This is something only you could pull off so well. I've tried making random shards with a multitude of colors a million times and it always looked like shit. So you definitely get a on the execution. I agree with the person who said this has a story to tell. Only instead of making me want to flip the pages for more it's making me want to look up (if that makes sense). I think the only thing I would have done differently is the background. I would've made it a tad lighter. I'm not really feeling the typo either, it feels like it was thrown in at the last minute.

The dividers make it more intruiging - very effective. And I absolutely LOVE the colours. It's awesome.

I am blown away by this. But I also agree that it looks very much like a comic book sequence, a la Viewtiful Joe (I know, not a comic, but first thing that came to me). Truly Pimp. *Holds up a cup

I can't critique this.

?eace.

The comic sequence is intentional

The comic cell layout ,just through association gives the viewer the impression that the piece is story led.
You want to turn the page to find out what's going to happen. As a tool to tie in multiple pieces it would be a very clever method of drawing your audience back.

I'm more than happy to be led by device and the image is fantastic.

Well you know your work deserves some thought put into the critique...Also I like the sound of my own voice... So that works well.
I've just got a new camera, so if I can talk Rachel into putting on her modeling face I might get around to submitting some work.
In regards to the site, with us old school lot,it's a bit like visiting the street you grew up in. You go back, but everyones moved on/out?! I'm a peer group orphan!

This is a beautiful drawing. I understand the concept behind it and the dividers are exactly what brings it out.

Just wondering, how long did this take to render?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ekud In reply to DusteDev [2005-12-15 23:48:00 +0000 UTC]

not that long mate, because there's about 15 different renders in there - i rendered all the objects seperately you see.

theres a lot of ps hours though!

Very nice. I think it may be better suited without the dividers, however. They take away from a bit of the quality, even if they do contribute to the style your using.

Great job, however. Keep it up.

Dont know how you made this render look so comic like. Maybe with sketch and toon?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ekud In reply to dopaminart [2005-12-15 23:51:21 +0000 UTC]

i dont know what sketch and toon are!

these are all custom gradient textures i applied to the objects in bryce, a fairly pastelle bunch. when i finished arranging, i copied and pasted a multiply layer to create the deep shadows on the objects.

apart from that, its just elements like the cell dividers etc

dopaminart In reply to ekud [2005-12-16 00:40:52 +0000 UTC]

Sry.
Forgot about the fact that users from other Progs than C4d dont know the plug ins.
Sketch and toon allows to turn your models into drawn pictures. Its for Comic styles, hand drawn pictures, Copic markers etc.
It seems to be great and I think I will buy a license for that Plug in.

Anyway, I like this picture...
Its brave. But I think a Depthcore member is allowed to be.
