super impressed by this one - as i critiqued tusk for its background i will say that this one works, it reminds me of certain sci-fi films which have massive interior rooms lit by an unidentifiable light source from above.
i will however say that the grid shapes which have been twisted into the structure dont work for me. one of the reasons i enjoy your work is because of the cleanliness and flow of the art and those shapes break it up and jar too much for me.
still a fantastic piece though.

Duke: I like the colors and most of the modeling but that wireframe in the top center could use some refining imo... It's just too prominent and sharp for me...
Alpha: typo is excellent as usual, everything is well balanced and fits together with the 3D perfectly...

I love the misty feeling and the 2D is awesome. How did you get that misty, dark feeling? is that done in 3Dsmax or in photoshop afterwards?

ekud In reply to sanby [2003-12-11 01:12:33 +0000 UTC]
the glow you are referring to was done in photoshop afterwards.
there are several ways of achieving it, but this is how i get it (sometimes)
1) open your render
2) duplicate the layer
3) apply a gaussian blur
4) experiment with layer modes. generally screen, multiply and overlay (or combinations) work the best!
all there is to it!
thanks for commenting.

I am not too thrilled by abstract art in general, but this caught my eye. First thing's first, the colors are greatly distributed through the whole piece. The lighting is uniform, which gives at an even more realistic feel. The typos are limited, which is good and makes the piece more elegant. The fact that the background is not overloaded makes the viewers attention go right at what matters. The abstract itself is beautiful. Very nice seeing you guys collab once again, i will go and check out depthcore's new pack. Nicely done.
