Description At last... This was a second tutorial I've done to learn to use Photoshop and digital painting in general.
It seems like it took forever, but I was doing it on and off, so I actually have no idea how many hours I've spent on it and I don't care anyway, I enjoy fiddling and taking my time to finish.
95% of this painting was done with Photoshop Elements 7 and right at the end I happened to find a trial version of Photoshop CS3 on one of our DVDs, so I started to use that instead + Wacom Intuos4.

This tutorial was created by Dianae [link] and it just blew me away the first time I happened to come across it. I just had to try to paint it
I wish I could see the videos Dianae created for this tutorial, but my bandwith is limited, so I just had to use my imagination

Thank you, Vanja! Took me forever, but I just had something to prove to myself... The main thing I learned in the process is that with LOTS of work and thought, anyone can paint, even me...
I still find that the hardest part in painting is the beginning, when you put colours down and it all looks so flat and lifeless... I just keep telling myself then : "keep adding details, Lena, and it will be all right".

You are so right, of course! I seriously lack patience to do something like this, so really - kudos to you!!
I'm more of a sketcher

I think most of us are... I like fast results too, but on my side I think it comes mostly because of the lack of confidence to take on a more complicated piece ( I am being honest here ), so I have to stay positive and keep going.
By the way... where is your sketches??? I looked in your gallery, there is no folders for such things...?

Yes, you have a point! My only sketch uploaded so far is my old devID, you can find it in the Blue folder

Thank you Lana! Though the image itself belongs to Dianae [link], I was following her tutorial here to learn how to paint digitally and to use Photoshop. I think I did a good job for the first timer
Thank you for your comment!

haha, Lou, you should check what category the painting is in when you look at it because some things look very traditional and yet it was done digitally! The Imaginary Nebula in my gallery is digital too So is a little garlic and Sleepless Night hehehe
