Description My entry for 's Young Design Challenge 2- Future Bride

Please Full view!!!!

The Challenge: Design a 'Star Wars' worthy couture wedding gown based on the formal wear of Padme Amidala, and an easily concealed lingerie set based off of Padme Amidala's informal or combat wear.

Ceremonial Robe (top picture): A yellow and purple ombre dyed velvet robe with shaped hem, train, white fur lining and metallic embroidered royal emblems. Accessorized with a custom broach and matching tiara.
Inspiration images were 'Red Invasion'(Eposode I), 'Peacock and Brown'(EpiasodeIII) and 'Lake Gown'(Episode II)

Dress (peaking out from under the robe): Is made of pleated silk taffeta with a triple-layer skirt with shaped hems and sheer, pin-tucked yoke and fitted sleeves .

Lingerie set(bottom pictures): Made of devore satin, it features clear beaded straps and a crossover bodice that wraps around and attaches to the back of the skirt, which has a draped waistband and a slit on either side of the center front panel.
Inspiration images were 'Family Costume' and 'Light Blue with Cloak' (both Episode II)

I love this. You've kept the Naboo style without making it a blatant rip off of her other gowns. This would be amazing if anyone made it

wow ! what amazing design!
I was quite surprised when I enlarged it.How huge it is!
I like the details and how very delicately all is designed. The colours are simple but very well chosen . I like the exotic moment they spread with the wonderful decorative details. I can imagine how big would it be to wear.So much materials.
and the Lingerie is so interesting. It is almost as a dress that could be worn on a beach near the sea. really nice idea.
Just fit for the endless world of Star Wars.
I immediately sent this to my friend who is a big Star Wars fan.
really wonderful!
Love and Light!

Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it! I actually have sketches done of the rest of the outfit, hopefully I'll be able to post them on Friday; then you'll be able to see how all the layers fit together.

I need to update this so you can see the middle layer dress(the one that just peaks out under the coat.),it's super pretty and is almost all soft blue/white pleats!

i think it looks super her (wedding gown) but i think the emblems don't suit it cause she doesn't wear any. just sayin!

overall super starwarsishly nice

Thank you! Actually, I put a lot of thought into the emblems because a number of her more formal gowns do have art nouveau or asian style embroidery or emblems on them, such as the 'black invasion', 'post-senate coruscant' and 'parade' gowns from Ep.1, the 'purple and yellow senate' and 'packing' gowns from Ep.2, and the 'burgandy velvet' and 'green cut velvet' gowns from Ep.3, so it made sense (to me) that an ultra-formal wedding gown would also have custom embroidery designs made just for it.

Lol, sorry, I didn't mean to go all psycho fangirl. I tend to go a little overboard on the research sometimes.

Lovely...but arent you suppost to use only the formal dresses for the wedding dress?

i specificly asked because of the lake gown (1 of my favourites xD i can guess it`s 1 of yours too) and they told me that i have to use only the formal for the wedding...no lake gowns for me T.T

but i wish u best luck ^^

I used the lake gown for color inspiration only, the actual design of the dress is based off of her formal wear. Since it's a wedding dress I wanted to keep the colors soft and celebratory in nature, a bit like her 'Parade' gown in the first one, but since it's a wedding instead of a peace celebration I figured the colors could be a bit more personal instead of strictly diplomatic.

Very interesting take on Amidala's costumes!! I especially love the first one except for how heavy the costume looks, it seems the warm colors does not entirely fit the gown, if switched with cool colors then it would work, just a suggestion.

Thank you! Yes, I actually designed it thinking it would be white with just a touch of color, but Unfortunately I couldn't get it to look right without a background and I simply did not have time to do one before the deadline!

nice job! It seems like you know what you're doing and how exactly you want it I really like the formal wear... it reminds me of the older times in chich royalty dress in such lavish dresses with yards and yards of fabric!

Thank you! I love the old formal wear myself, though I wouldn't want to have to sew it all myself! Hopefully I'll be able to finish sketching the rest of the outfit (robe back, underdress's front and back.)so you can see how everything fits together.

yeah, sewing can be a pain especially with a lot of fabric and intricate patterns (but it comes out lovely in the end).

Numbe-Del-Cielo In reply to EllaNyx [2010-09-30 07:00:11 +0000 UTC]

yeah, i love to sew, but things that intricate and that much fabric is... not as fun as it seems to actually wear it... sad but true *sighs*

EllaNyx In reply to Numbe-Del-Cielo [2010-09-30 15:42:37 +0000 UTC]

*laughs* Cumbersome as they may actually be, most people would still wear it if they got the chance. It's the 'Cinderella' effect, I think. Who wouldn't want to go gliding through princely halls in a fantastical gown at least once in their life?

Numbe-Del-Cielo In reply to EllaNyx [2010-10-01 05:18:13 +0000 UTC]

i'd do it everyday! LOL what i meant was that sewing it wouldn't be as much fun as wearing it

EllaNyx In reply to Numbe-Del-Cielo [2010-10-01 19:26:26 +0000 UTC]

Oh, Absolutely! Sewing it would be a Royal pain in the neck!
