Description Hi friends!!! So excited to share this with you. I have at least been working on it for 1 week, maybe 2.... 2 1/2? haha. Not all of it was intense focused work but it definitely took a long time. And........ more than a few creation spren

I have been a long fan of Brandon Sanderson from the Mistborn trilogy, but I started reading (and rather quickly once I got into it) Way of Kings.... so amazing!!! Breathtaking and amazing. This is a scene from the book, where the main character Kaladin unexpectedly encounters Wit within the shatter plain chasms. Wit plays him a song on a magical flute, making the fire's smoke illustrate parts of the story, at one point turning into a ship. Poor, broken slave Kaladin. Amazingingly witty.... Wit This scene popped into my head, I loved how enchanting it was, I had to paint it!!!! So this is my loving tribute. Painting this lasted through the entire second book, and while a scene definitely sticks out to paint from there too...... but I'm really tired haha! just finished it, this painting took a lot out of me, I hope it was worth it and of course there was a more thorough illustration of the chasmfields in the second book, but I was *almost* done with this by the time I found it!! So I was modestly accurate, at least now I can rate my imagination. The chasms are definitely supposed to have more dead bodies.... but I didn't really want to paint anything icky, and instead show the marvelous glowing plants that was down there. Rockbuds, weird mossy and tentacally vine buds and polyps.... I truly loved the illustrations in the book! I could have probably added more, but I feel like I already add so much "craziness" to my paintings I could call it finished. Not perfect, but finished.

Watercolor, 11x15 inches

This is so beautiful in every way, the style the colors, the image.
does the book have any images you used to give you ideas or is this just imagination?
I'll do a more detailed response another time on this later if you want.

Hi there, thanks for the comment!!! I love it when people ask me questions! These books are AWESOME if you haven't read them and I highly recommend- one of the main characters is an artist scholar so every chapter actually has a page from her "sketchbook". It's so cool, I have always loved "storybooks" and wish there could be some mature ones for us fantasy lover adults you know! So this is like that.

For my image itself I used some of the book's illustrations of the weird plants for reference but otherwise this was all from my head. And the front covers of course I could guess at the kind of clothes. Like I said in the description, ironically the second book had a sketch of these kind of caverns that would have been helpful! But I hadn't read that far at the beginning of the painting so it was already like 90% complete when I saw the official way these should look....oops.... it would have been helpful and these would have looked differently but oh well! I guess now there is just more "me" in them Thanks again!!!
