Description (2004) 13"x11" Pen and ink on paper.

This is a drawing of a beautiful 19th century house one of my friends used to own in a small town north of Dallas. The place is just wonderful, with a covered wood porch on the side of the house and a beautifully preserved Victorian interior.

Nothing like sitting out there on a summer evening, sipping a glass of wine, listening to the crickets and cicadas and watching the moon rise over the trees.

Unfortunately he had to sell it late last year, but at least he'll have my drawing as a memory.

I know, it's a gorgeous Victorian home. I was just a tad envious every time I visited.

Thanks! I really loved that place. It had a bit of a southern plantation feel to it cause of the white columns. You you sit there and go all "Gone with the Wind"...

Very nicely executed!
It is very Reminiscent of those 60-70's architectural renderings (which I a was sorry to see fall out of favor because of digital art!)

a lovely use of negative space, especially on the foliage.

That is some serious drawing talent you have here.

Thanks for posting it

be well - metatetron

Yeah, he didn't have a problem selling it, though he wanted quite a decent price for it. (Sniff!)

Like the colors sort of looks as thoughsun up or sundown is near must be the lighting or the palette.
Nevr mind very nice deviation.

Thanks! In fact I recall the original being a bit paler, but somehow the picture I took of it had a more earthy hue. Actually I like it better that way.

I've been reading in spare time its dangerous. any way I've been reading about paper and how most of it contains too much acid to survive the long haul. this is normal papers that might be used in collage work or something Multimedia. the papera you use as you may know are low acid rag and cotton papers so it must be the wood papers that yellow and crack over time. I told you it was dangerous for me to be reading. I'm one of those learners.

You're right. I think paper is important. I'd rather pay a few bucks more for a pad and have something that stands up to time a little bit better. It's a shame to have invested all the time and effort in a piece, and then after a few years you might as well toss it because the paper gave out on you.

It has been a continuing debate for quite awhile. You should also place instructions with the original owner as to what should be done about restoration. Some artist it seems had enough foresight that they knew what was going to happen to their work and did'nt want anything done when it Happened.
Thats why I ask Multimedia artist if they have been warned about mixed media work. Most have no idea what I'm saying...

That's probably a good idea, especially if you leave your art in someone else's care. So far I've only ever revisited one picture for repair work, it was an ink drawing that had some water damage when my client's roof leaked...

I have three years worth of American Artist and Artists Magazine. Probably not very good for someone like me. I don't Paint or do inkwork just the occasional precartoon.

Thanks very much. I did the outline from across the street and then used photographs for reference on the detailing on the columns and moulding.

This picture is unbelivable, its brilliant i thought it was a photo at first. You really have captured how beautiful the house is, this picture is unreal. I dont think your friend will miss the house with a picture like that, hanging up.
