I like it, but why the razor...? It's alright, I'm just confused. Not every emo cuts and those who do tends to know it's bad and get help. This is a wonderful picture and I'm not disagreeing with it. I just don't know how important noting the razor in his hair is real...

Nope, he doesn't cut himself, but it's a real razor though.

Whenever I draw a face, I usually go with a semi-realistic approach. There are loads of semi-realism tutorials here in dA. But also, before that, I also look and stare at real photos of people, see the curvature of their noses and such.
After a while, I add some anime-ish style to make the drawing cute looking while being anatomically detailed, such as the lips, nostrils, eyelashes, etc.
