Description
This is my first fan art of a fan character I've ever made, and that is of *InvaderSaik 's Saik. Took me a while to find time to finish this.. sitting for too long
In simplicity, she's complicated
But in a well-writ way. I would love to have seen her battle more rounds in Blood Sports. Maybe if it's odd-numbered again, she could be re-invited.. I don't know, I'd love to start a campaign if I weren't already in BS still! Anyway, she's still a strong female character, and that's what I hope to put out to you guys!Besides *InvaderSaik 's art rocks.

If you're wondering if I'm moved on completely to anthro Irkens.. I'm not. I need to work on anatomy, I honestly do. I hope I got it right this time! I worked long enough on this sketch to make sure I'd be satisfied and not be embarrassed by it later.
I like the PAK leg up close a lot.. whooosh. Metal.
This looks a lot like the scene where Zim was escaping the police at the bank, eh?

Yeah, I was sad her round was over quickly to. Saik was a really interesting character, I hope I can make one as good as hers. >_< Complicated, but well writ. Which is really hard to do.

yea I have SAI X3 I had a feeling you used it but I just had to know XD yea it is a lot easier than photoshop ^^ I've only had it for a while but I think it is easy to handle :3

How.. did you figure out to color metal so good? I just color it in plain gray and shade it even though I( theoretically ) know how it looks. And seriously, the pose.. just screams epic.

Well, it's a very simple theory actually
For one, I put the base as grey. I then add a soft white highlight, and soft dark blue shade. Then I highlight again, on the dark side, a translucent white line along the edge to define it's reflective. I would add another streak of a low opacity white along the length of it, somewhere in between the highlight and shadow. A streak kinda like the one on her glove.
To define it's even MORE reflective, I add an extra layer that include reflection of nearby objects. Like if you see near her head, the two rods closest reflect the green skin, her eye colour on one rod, and the back of her black collar on the rod behind her. It's also reflecting on the glowy-connectors on her PAK legs too, I just smudge it out to however the distance I think the connector can glow for.
Up close you can see that the metal bends along the edge, so the dark blue and black reflection does so. Just think about the dimensions of it
Anyway, I hope that helped! I've never tried this traditionally, so if that's what you're wondering for, then I totally the wrong person xD

Nope, I'm actually better at coloring metal traditionally. xD I dunno,in photoshop somehow my mind gets all blank and I can't remember the simplest, basic things that come to me naturally when I color by hand.

Aww. I could say the same to you. You have really supported me on here and I'm unbelievably thankful for that (I never used to draw fanart, but now I actually want to all the time XD). I try to look at your pictures and figure out what's making me go "Gah! It's so beautiful! Waaaannnttt" and clutch at the computer screen longingly.
Ambition is a great drive, honestly CB I find that since coming on here, because of all the feedback I've gotten (something I just didn't have much of before) I've really been improving, and I've wanted to improve too! I'm so thankful to you, honestly I am! You seriously rock, girl.

Well actually, I'd be a hypocrite now if I said I wasn't a crier of small matters. Yesterday evening I had the biggest mix of emotions, it just resulted that way.
But for a picture of mine, say what?!
(Hell, neither did I! IZ is my first fan-artisty I've been into! I only came here 9 or so months ago! I won't stop calling myself new until I hit a year!)
But no way.. that can't be right. My pictures leave so many errors, it's unbelievable to hear someone would like them that much. I mean, I can understand someone saying "Wow, that's really good! You've got so-and-so really well!" and what not, but I think that's a little overboard! XD
Yeah, I noticed to, that the fanbase got me more noticed. It's a bit of a bummer we have to start this way, drawing with another person's ideas, but I've seen old fans build up to become their own artists after their time had passed with it. This is just the first step, maybe second after picking up the pencil and making that account.

Whoa, this is INCREDIBLE!
The highlighting on this picture is so intense and well done! And I absolutely love the contrast of the dark night scene to the brightness of Saik. The glowyness looks so much cooler because of that. I love her dramatic pose and the spiderlegs are awesome. I can never draw those things.

I got to work on anatomy too. I can't get it right! I think you got it right here though. It looks good to me. And if there is something wrong then I didn't see it because your art is better than mine which means I cant recognise what's wrong with it(although I can sometimes spot something wrong with the colouring).
I like this! It's looks so awesome! ALL OF IT! Including the irken itself.And I like her expression because she is about to fall off the building but she's smiling which makes her look really cool.
