That's good to hear, especially considering this is one of my more favourite pieces of work. More often than not, I get "very nice" and "great job!". I'm glad this actually did something for you.

You don't have to divulge your trade secrets if you don't want, but are you exporting your flames with a transparent background and loading them up into photoshop layer by layer? Do you use the smooth palette feature in Apophysis to color your images, or use a colorizing feature in Photoshop to add all your colors in later? BAH! I want to do something like this, but I just don't have the total knowledge yet. My one piece of fractal art I did with apophysis, and Iwas happy with it, but I want to be able to do things like you're doing. If you want to post it here or note me with the really basic steps you did to make this piece, I'd TOTALLY appreciate it. I promise I won't copy you TOO much!

Hi I saw your post on how you don't get very helpful critiques so I thought I'd drop by and see if I could suggest some things.
-There's way too much going on in this picture. I like that I can appreciate the elegance of the lines and movement in your other works such as Stormrider, but here I feel overwhelmed and uninterested in exploring even the full view. I think much of this feeling comes from the choice in background, it competes with the forground art and takes away from it.

I resent and defy the words "too much going on", as you can see in my other works. Perhaps it just wasn't as effective in this piece. Though if you were to say you felt it was too oversaturated, I'd agree to the letter.
Are you saying the background and foreground don't mesh well together? I had personally thought that they worked well to create an "organic" feel to the overall work.

Well reguardless fo the phrase of choice the central idea remains true. Too much, over filled, oversaturated, brimming, overflowith.
That's me being funny not trying to act as a sarcastic ass. Although I am one.
The background fights with the forground, so yea I'm flighty with words at times, but you seem to understand me. Plus it looks like the clouds filter in photoshop. So while the main portion of the submission has effort and thought put into it the background suggests that it doesn't.
That's the thing about art though, it's so subjective.

This looks to me like a feald of colorfull flowers, with golden fairies or fireflys flying around at hig speed protecting the flowers

Ah, a kind of religious mysticism. I like it. Reminds me of God 1.0 in Futurama, but in a good way. A beautiful swirl of colours encapsulating love.

Except. . . I don't remember the fireworks being all swirly.

I like how colourful this is. The rather bright centre is good as it draws the eye towards it. The only flaw I see here is that it looks somewhat oversaturated.

Yeah, I'll say it's a bit oversaturated. There's a few blue and fuschia blotches of color that distract the eye from the focal point of the picture. I'd suggest toning down on the reds on the left, but I guess that would kill off the colorful theme of this piece. :B
Aquamarine and white thingas emanating from the center of light are cool. I like those.

Oversatured: I'll admit to that, of course. I did try to tone it down, but doing so brings the overall quality down a few grades. Doesn't quite look the part without everyone up so high. In my own opinion, anyway. Besides, oversaturation is becoming my trademark, it seems.
And I agree. They need more than just a bit of it, sadly.
