Description In Memory of My Grandfather
(November 27, 1918 - November 28, 2006)

...a moment seemingly
designed by perfection
but whose waves lap the edges of silence
a succession of forever’s longing

Polaroid SX-70
Time-Zero film

Edit: No photomanipulation... these colors are a result of overexposure using the SX-70's dial. This re-upload is part of the rescan project for my 2008 calendar and general color correction of my favorite Time-Zero prints. Actually, I see I had never enabled this as a print. I think I was too sad when I originally posted it.

My grandmother died two years ago, four days before her birthday. I still miss her.

The peaceful look and the small lines on the sand which make it look as if you're going very fast farther and farther really has the emotion in it.

This shot was beautiufl to begin with.
Stunning shades of blue, so serene, so soft.
However, when I saw that it was a memorial, it became so much more.
Just beautiful.

The fact that this is in memoriam to your grandfather only makes this shot stronger, in my opinion. The waves seem to speak of the coming and going of life and death, which is as natural and persistent as the breaking of the waves. The colours are tranquil but of many shades, perhaps hinting to the way this man lived, and left, this life.

A very powerful image.

very beautiful. It reminds me of Harry Callahan's work form Lake Michigan. Very abstract and very much a personal work. I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. I just recently lost my grandmother and know that it must be a tough time that you are going through. What a beautiful way to honor his memory.

So lovely. It is allmost the opposite of what you usualy do in shots like these, you usually focus on the sky.

Very surreal and abstarct. The lines in it are just lovely.

I am sorry for your loss. I have lost all of my grandparents. It is a little lonely in my family these days.
