Description
My first ever gradient mesh portrait! It definitely requires some reworking, but this is as done as it's going to get for the next little while (no time! never enough time!). This is based off of a photo I took of a friend (no, she didn't have assorted sea creatures in her hair).Edit: Oh my goodness, this is my first daily deviation! Wow, wow, wow! Thank you, dazza!

The hair was extremely frustrating! And yes, the meshes were INSANE. I divided the hair into a number of larger meshes, and then went in with the pen tool to create individual strands, blocks of colour, etc., especially when I realize the rest of the illustration was going to be highly stylized.

Thank you so much! At first, I absolutely hated the gradient mesh tool, but I think now that I've spent more time with it I can appreciate how it could be worked into future designs in a successful way. It's just ridiculously time consuming!
