Likely I heard it in undertones,
Often a subtle remark reveals more than intended.
Said it once and should have meant it then,
Too often distance creates a void that you have to struggle to cross on your own
Those regrets have a funny way of consuming you if you let them,
Overwhelming needs to give in to every heartless word,
Gathering every wasted moment,
Eagerly trying to find a way to get out of my own head.
Today felt like it was the right time to let it go.
Havenβt realized every step towards the edge was reaching it together.
Even having a chance to take another step with you was a process of self-worth.
Relieved to find you there after finding my way on my own.

I love this! I'm not sure how to say it, but I think the way you wrote it really captures the feeling of figuring out one's self-worth. Great job!

This is one of the most absolutely beautiful and thought provoking poems I've ever read. At least, in my personal opinion. I tend to favor lyricism that has a nice flow without being overly complicated- but just sinewy enough to create an easy mental image of the topic. I feel you pulled this off quite nicely. I am by no means a critic, or even all that familiar with poetry for that matter. But the very fantastic and warm thought of finding one's true value before it's too late, and additionally the discovery of having inadvertently placed themselves directly with someone they feel so strongly about is even more such the treasured experience.
tl;dr - This poem is wicked cool and I wish I came across such enigmatic things like this more often.
