Yay for the island. o/ I think you did well with the colours. The foreground looks especially good. The red in the clouds might be a bit over-saturated - however there are some sunsets that are just that insane, so it's hard to make a final judgement.
I think you can't spot the yellow pollen on the water in this resolution. At least I can't.
It's sad that you dropped your remote. You can prolly calculate the time it needs until it will be degraded, lol. I have bought a remote a couple of months ago and have used it exactly zero times to this day. I think I am a moron.

When pollen meets water, it clumps and turns into a paint-like substance. Take a look at the image again and imagine that the large swath of sandbars are actually pollen. Your so funny - I think you are trying to look to hard!
I'm going to redo the sky because I have some Magenta banding going on towards the top - it doesn't appear in the full resolution version of this, just when I downsize it for DA. I had to desaturate the sky and bushes quite a bit to make this image work and be "believable". The red in the sky tends to turn the atmosphere red, which creates an ugly red cast on images, and the bushes turn neon green. So, in order to make this safe for internet use (lol) I have removed the red cast, and desaturated the sky and bushes.
I have since purchased a new remote and am still baffled at the fact that none of them come with a string or ANY place to attach one. I am going to have to drill a hole in it and hope I drill through a spot that is not circuit board. I'll add a string and tie it to my belt loop, hopefully. Otherwise, a slippery plastic remote is just begging to be dropped. I realized after dropping the remote, that since the subject had never come up before, I have no clue on how to use the "timer" in the camera. I had leaned on the tripod and carefully press the shutter button to take a picture. These high-end cameras let you flip the mirror up before taking a picture, so that nothing vibrates the camera when releasing the shutter to maxify the detail/sharpness and to have the least amount of blur at large print sizes. What I found when I got home and studied the images up close, was that I could really tell no difference in using the remote for stability or carefully pressing the button on the camera. The images, when enlarged to full size on my monitor were as sharp as always! Using a remote seems to be for convenience rather than an anti-shake tool in low lighting.
Anyways - too much rambling! lol!

Remotes are good for selfies - I for one don't like taking pictures of myself, but they look cool if done right. A timer could still work, but you'll be out of breath! Anyways - do what works for you. If it were a problem, you would see the benefit of using the remote, otherwise, if you don't know what you're missing, it doesn't hurt.
Deviant art will resize the image (not the pixel count if you upload at the recommended "fixed"sizes) in terms of jpeg compression like Facebook does when you upload a photo. If the amount of colors to properly reproduce your image online are not available within the color spectrum, gamut, etc. that certain color will be replaced with the closest match. Sometimes this cause banding because the next available color doesn't match. The sky is either going to have green, blue, or red banding. In my case, my sky is leaning towards the red side producing magenta bands. When I print the large version, the printer will be using photoRGB to print, so therefore it will most likely have the colors I need, because the reduced quality sRGB image I have now, doesn't. My Monitor displays 104% sRGB - that extra 4% covers a larger swath of the green side of the color spectrum, therefore leaning away from magenta, and having a better balanced photo in terms of color blending throughout.

Aww
Sadly though I'm not on facebook, I'm sorry to say. I usually keep up with my friends through messengers (skype and whatsapp).

Hah, I have defended myself well against the constant assault of people around me regarding me not having facebook. By now, most of my friends dislike it. They either deleted their accounts or don't use it anymore. I call that a win in an idealistic war! lol
Seriously though, I'm sorry we won't be able to keep up that way. For now, DA seems to do a decent enough job though until a better solution pops up. I must say I'm a fan of instant messengers for this kind of stuff. I grew up with ICQ and Skype in my teens so that's probably the reason. I can't stand this whole Facebook, Twitter, Instagramm nonsense. To me it looks like a constant barrage of messages I mostly don't care about. Instead I like to "manually" hold contact with people and ask questions about things that seem interesting. It's much more direct and personal imho. And way more efficient regarding the percentage of useful, exchanged information.

Uh, does manual have a different connotation than in german? I understand what you are getting at but in germany manual contact simply describes the form of contact. As in, manual as opposed to automated, not that you are touching each other or so, lol. What would be the right vocabulary to use in english?
I didn't mean Instagramm btw. but Snapchat... But yeah, Instagramm seems quite silly, too. I don't know, at 5x2,5 I don't think anything looks fantastic because you can't see any details anyways.

lol - I make strange untimely comments all the time. It's who I am. I like to be lighthearted and not super serious.
I brought up the trump thing because, first, people elsewhere assumed that over half the population voted for him (which isn't true) and second, because of my comment about "dirty word linking" when drinking. I was joking about it and didn't want to come across as being a Trump type of mentality. I would have voted for Bernie Sanders, and I think Europe would have loved him, unlike Trump or almost as bad - Hilary Clinton. I would think that Germany so far has been the most offended and turned off from trump and the US as a whole. I have a fleeting hope that he can get his shit together and do something right, but it's not looking good. I would be pushing for impeachment like everyone else, but his Vice President (Mike Pence) is worse than Trump, but just better spoken and quieter. I take Trump over Pence as would all women if they knew what his policies would be.
Anyways - I do dislike politics, so sorry for bringing it up at all! lol And yes, from what I hear G20 was embarrassing. But at least Trump shook Merkel's hand this time and didn't shove anyone out of the way! haha

I live just south of Placerville (for over 9 years now and I STILL have cardinal direction issues up there, lol) I've actually only stopped and shot at Sand Harbor once - we're usually on our way somewhere else, lol...always wondered if it made an island but we seem to never make it up to that side of the lake until Fall when the water level is down! Hopefully this years snow pack keeps things full all year... here's my one time of shooting - which I think is the other side of the theater area from your shot...
