Steven Universe fan art.Just finished the last episode of the third season today! I love that show ugh. And the backgrounds are so pretty!
I don't know how I feel about this picture tho. I feel like it could be a lot better, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

I love, love, LOVE this artwork. The highlighting is f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c. I do have some issues, as that's what this critique is for, right? I'm also very judgey.
Everyone has the eye struggle, I get it, but yours was pretty close. Although, considering which way the rest of Lion's head is facing, the eyes don't make very much sense as to where they're facing. Another issue with the eyes--considering the state that the rest of his face is in, Lion doesn't really look like he's glowing with rosy power at the moment.
The mane is fantastic, but it kind of looks like polished granite to me. Lion's fur is soft and fluffy, but I feel like the highlighting in this picture is a bit much for the texture.
Lion's right jawbone seems to be facing an entirely different way that the rest of his face. The left-jawbone-to-snout transition is very smooth, but I think that the right one is very angular.
Anyway, kudos for you to binge-watching the show (I love it almost as much as this art) and keep drawing!!

Ah thank you! Now that you mention it, the eyes do seem a bit off. I also see what you mean with the highlights. I love making everything look shiny, but I do think that I may have gone a bit overboard this time heh! I'll try to fix that! Thanks for taking the time to write all that up!
