Description Front and back of my Renaissance outter gown; I haven't even designed the under layer yet, and this beauty's been rotting in my closet for two long years.

17 yards of satin
52 yards of gold, red, and black trim

Three months at 20 hours a week.

And it's not even finished yet!

M4997 was used. Warning: The sleeve tips are a little long for anyone shorter than 5'7'', and CANNOT be adjusted after trim is added; I only mention it because there is only one universal size option, if I remember correctly.

Trick remedy in desperate situations is to tie the bottoms of your sleeves each in a knot. But the knots don't stay in for me because the material is so slippery.

Satin gown wearers should avoid wood, which I found is EXTREMELY hard to do at Ren Faires. FOR GOSH SAKES AVOID WOOD!!

You're welcome.

Personally I like Victorian Era and Steampunk styles best, but Medieval/fairytale-ish thing are pretty high on my list. Especially armor....

Wish I could get away wearing that kind of stuff on a daily basis..... One of these days I might just design/make a whole Steampunk wardrobe and decide 'screw it, I'm wearing this'!

I have just one thing to say:

EuTytoAlba In reply to Illo1 [2017-02-11 19:16:00 +0000 UTC]

The only things stopping me are laziness and money for the materials.... Just the TIME it would take me is like, 260 hours to design patterns (I no longer buy patterns; don't like what's available) and another 400 to sew it all.

I thought it was kinda funny that after beating tEW, Ruvik had inspired me to stop procrastinating stitching up the hems of my own pants. Of course they weren't frayed as bad as his, but bad enough to be silly.

Hehe, Ruvik is a good source of inspiration

I found his outfit sexy !
When he was chasing me, it was hard to look elsewhere than his pants when I didn't look at his face.
I know that's pervert :3... XD

I REALLY don't need any more inspiration right now.... OTL ....I just started four new stories in the past five days (but haven't finished any old ones yet ) including a TEW fanfiction about a theory I have about Ruvik. I think the fire he lost his sister in didn't happen exactly the way Ruvik remembers it.....

LOL  I guess then his outfit is LITERALLY........

to die for.

I'm actually trying to make writing fiction my job. And I'm well on the way..... .....but I'm SO easily distracted by new projects, I think my only solution is to become FASTER at writing so I can finish them ALL....

Do you post your stories online, or keep them private?

Ruvik learned the hard way to keep his work secret.......but I keep my original work offline instinctively.
....Except for fanfiction, because the characters and basic story aren't mine anyway.

Mmmmaybe I'll take a look.

I don't mind writing mistakes. I know this is The Internet and everyone's in whole different places.
IMO the important thing is everyone keeps practising and having fun at the things they like to do.

I'm pretty much across the world from you, in Arizona / where the Grand Canyon is.

Often it is.   Here's several pictures I've posted on DA over the years. Most were taken right in my backyard!
But often, also, all anyone here can think about is how hot it gets in the summer....

Holy... I have a dress that's almost EXACTLY like that. Except the sleeves are a tad shorter, the red is deeper, and instead of a brown skirt, I have loose pants. Plus I don't have those open-arm things on the sleeves. And mine is some sort of polyester. But yours looks fantastic! I little FYI, it looks pretty spankin' when you use a gold ribbon to thread your bodice-thing. It adds a bit of color.

OMG! instant fav!! I just love the colors you choose and the sleeves!!

I have a medieval dress myself, but I didn't made mine XD I drew it, but I wasn't good enought at sewing at the moment (and it was my hightschool ball dress I wanted it to be perfect)

and... I had the same problem when walking with those sleeves XD I was litteraly stepping on them.

Y thank you.

Yeah... Sometimes a costume just has so much awesome that we have to drag all that extra behind us.

I'd love to see a picture if you have one.
