This might be the first PC design sketch commission I've gotten since I started differentiating between them and PC portraits (basically, design sketches are rougher, more simplistic, and are more focused on the character's general costume design than his personality. They're also cheaper). This guy is a warrior and military general. I was provided with an older illustration of the character and was asked to make him "more Roman." After some back-and-forth with the client, I figured our that he basically wanted medieval-style plate mail with a Roman aesthetic. I think I captured that pretty well. The sash depicts his military rank. The funky sword is faithful to the original drawing... It's the only thing I didn't change.
