I have always been confused about what this animal's skull really looks like. It seems to look different every time Gregory Paul draws it. This one looks more like the current one.
I have a skull replica of this animal but I think it is wrong. It looks like it did when they thought it was a velociraptor.
And then there is the original version that looks more like an allosaurus skull and I have never seen Paul draw it like that.

This one particularly caught my eye. Your depiction of these animals is incredible and at the same time entirely believable.

I like this a great deal. The legs don't look like thin; frail sticks, the animal looks healthy and considerably fluffy all at the same time, the amount of blood isn't overdone and the eyes seem intelligent, yet primal all the same.
I say GREAT JOB!!

Amazing job again. Even as a speedpaint beats most of the elaborate paleoart you can found regarding maniraptorans.

Hmm... was the fish caught with the deinonychus's killing claw, caught with its jaws, or was it found washed up?

EWilloughby In reply to 8bitAviation [2013-07-01 09:07:08 +0000 UTC]
I imagine it'd catch it with its jaws. Probably not something it did often, but most mid-sized predators are pretty opportunist. Sickle claws would be used to pin it down as it's being torn into more manageable chunks.

Yeah, I think it would be easier to for it to catch a fish with its jaws. They are such interesting animals!
