Description Made another visit to the Botanical Conservatory today Sad to say my pretty hibiscus plant didn't have a single flower in bloom. So instead I made my way to the rainforest room to visit the Bird of Paradise. Tomorrow they will be taking down the main room to put up a new showcase which will have Tuplips Daffadils and other flowers of the likes which I'm looking forward too. I heard there is a possibility they might get waterlilies again after they killed off my favorite one a year or so ago. I miss shooting that waterlily was one of my favorites

Edited with Rawshooter. Needs a better title any suggestions?

It truly is lovely that the flower looks so much like a bird, that it's not just a name. The colours being so vivid and the details so rich make this an outstanding photo that keeps on capturing me. It's not that I wouldn't like flower photographs but sometimes they're plain bring. This ain't though, as I said. My most favourite part is the multicoloured leaf there, how the water moves on it.

I like the offset on the subject, love the colors, having not seen that flower before it almost looks abstract to me

It's a very interesting flower it really doesn't look like the clasical flower with a center and then petals circling around its more of one of the oddball flowers I guess you could say.

I wish I had a botanical garden nearby... what a lovely place to capture great images like this one. And I love the warmth and humidity of a green house, don't you?

Great image. The negative space really set off the colors. Call it Positive Space.

Very nice! I have never seen a flower like that before.
For a title suggestion I would say Still Beauty? I don't know I'm not very good at those things ^^'
Great shot*

O.o you can't eat bird of paradise flowers...they are toxic causes hallicinating, excessive vomiting etc

oh you can eat them trust me... they're a kick in the head but the aftereffects are really weird. it only makes you vomit if you eat a ton and the hallucinations are whats so weird about em heh. Anythings edible Ev, its only a matter of how MUCH is edible in one sitting. Even the strongest poison carries medicinal properties in moderation.

Beautiful. Must be a flower thing this weekend. I've been in the mood to snap off some flower shots too. I can't think of a better name for this one. If it's not a Bird of Paradise, it kind of falls under Abstract to me.... Maybe something like Dragon's Breath? It could *sort* of look like the open maw of a dragon with his tongue sticking out.
