I believe that you can get good results shooting that way, but it isn't something i have tried myself. Generally when shooting against glass you have to get your lens pressed up against the glass itself to avoid getting reflections from it.

how do you get it so its so clear? you must have one heck of a camera...i could never seem to get mine to make anything clearer than a blur out of any quick movement.

Just a Canon 350d with a very low end zoom lens. (Sigma 70-300)
I actually shot this sitting in my car on the side of a road next to a pond.

oh, is it much better than your previous camera? how long have you been a photographer?

Yeah its a hell of a lot better, you have so much more control with a dSLR camera. I have only really been a serious amatuer photographer since Dec last year

wow! you're so good, for only doing it for a year, i'm envious of this talent you have. i've always wished i could get more into photography, but not this year, maybe next. these dSLR cameras, are they the big black ones with the lens sticking out? haha...um, that sounds a little dumb but i'm not learned with cameras i guess.

lol, no worries. I didn't understand much of it until a few months ago.

"A digital single-lens reflex camera (digital SLR or DSLR) is a digital camera that uses an automatic mirror system and pentaprism or pentamirror to direct light from the lens through the viewfinder eyepiece.

The basic operation of a DSLR is as follows: for viewing purposes, the mirror reflects the light coming through the attached lens upwards at an approximately 90 degree angle. It is then reflected by the pentaprism to the photographer's eye. During exposure (when the photograph is taken), the mirror swings upward, and a shutter opens, allowing the lens to project light onto the image sensor"

From here [link]

But yeah those big black (sometimes silver ) ones with the lens sticking out, thats em

If it's something you want to do then just start doing it, you dont need a dslr to start learning about photography. A compact camera with a manual mode is more than enough to get you started on your way. Believe me, i know from personal experience!

Thank you

you know quite a bit bout that, i never did quite understand how a camera works, thanks for the information. i'll have to try one of them.

i do have a digital compact camera that i bought about a year ago, but i havent had many chances to use it. i've been occupied with schoolwork and when summer vacation comes i have work, but i think i'll buy one of em DSLR cameras after i get the money, as i understand they can be pretty pricy, but the pictures just seem a lot clearer and more colorful and smooth with them.

i've been pretty broke since i bought a salt water tank. i have been wanting to take pictures of it since i got it because they're really quite beautiful. do those cameras work very well through glass water?
