Just a glimpse of how I do my coloring. Not your everyday tutorial, just a display of the steps I take from sketch to lighting.

Sketch - Drawn in pencil and scanned as such.

Black Lineart - I trace over the sketch in a new layer with a black brush. I use a 2px brush for normal lines and a 1px brush for the details.

Colored Lineart - Using the Lasso Tool, I select each section of the black lineart that will be one color, then use the Photocopy filter to color it. I do this until all of the lines are colored appropriately, darker than the color it contains.

Coloring - My favorite part. Creating a layer underneath the lineart, I fill the appropriate colors in.

Lighting - Playing around with the brightness, contrast, color, burn, and dodge tools is entertaining to experiment with.
