Finally! I've been working on this since the 1st of March.... That's four and a half months, gang...

Now, for the tirade into all the symbolism I've tried to portray in this picture.

Many people consider life a thing to celebrate, to enjoy, to be inspired by. It's a beautiful gift, bestowed upon us by whatever fates or ideas a person believes in. It's soft and sublime, a state of acute freedom. In this, I have tried to portray Mistress Life as a very soft figure, being as she has feathers and smooth skin/fur. I've also added the rising sun, depicting a new dawn, along with a cross, a symbol commonly associated with the life bestowed upon us by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. According to the various christian sects, anyway.

However, life also tends to be very harsh, very demanding and cruel. By this, I have given Mistress Life a very harsh pose; half growling, claws bared, preparing to leap out into the great unknown of the air. The sky, while not quite what I wanted, was supposed to be reminiscent of a sailor's red dawn. "Red sky dawning, sailor's warning," as the saying goes. Also, the cross is crumbling, old, and in a sad state of repair, weathered by the harsh elements of life and time.

That's it in brief. Life is beautiful, but ultimately, fluid, brief, and harsh. And so is the Mistress of Life, paused for a moment in time, caught in ferocity just before she leaps fluidly to the next moment, storming through the realm of life.
