Description At first there was an old shimmer
Or was it at first?
Maybe it was in the end?

Do you know what happens to stars when they die?
They burst to give life
And kill in the process

And the cycle continues again
New life is born
New stars are created

And the Tree of Life looks over it all
Eternally

About three A6 monochromatic watercolour paintings with a bit of gouache and some golden leaf experiments
Inspiration "Follow me "by Serenity

Ok! My dears! I have to confess for a long time I was looking for my ideal teal watercolour and I finally found it
... and it's from the Daniel Smith's ridiculously expensive series and it's perfect and I'm on a budget for art supplies now

Anyways! I saw puimun abstract treescapes tutorial and played around a subject I hardly ever tried - trees each one of them is made with only one colour - on the left one of my favourites, indigo; in the middle one red I hardly eve use, and on the right - my new teal DS
Β it's supposed to be a story of universe using the Tree of Life archetype as a representation
... maybe someone saw what I had on mind without this awkward explanation

Thank you so much for the visit my dear

Awesome job with creating the trees with a limited colour palette! They look so beautiful, and side by side they really look magical (plus is that gold watercolour paints?). Amazing watercolour works as always

They all look wonderful! I love the color choice!

Daniel Smith truly is an expensive brand, but I love them too, they are great!

The last month I have worked with a lot of different golds but it didn't come to my mind to use golden leaf. I need to try that to, but it also seems hard to proper scan itΒ Β

experimenting with colours - especially the red tones - is actually something I struggle with that's why I'm so glad to read you kind comment my dear

I have only one Daniel Smith colour for now. but I'm afraid I'll be getting a wider collection in the future it's just too good to let it slide

just a few comments further (earlier?) you'll get really neat advise from Aya-Lunar about photographing the golden gleam you should really check it out

thank you so much for your support my dear

making a mixture of colours you love, colours you start to discover and colours you looked for a long time - maybe that's the secret?
thank you so much for your comment

maybe a bit different than I usually do... sorry about that it's actually pretty discouraging to scan golden leaf - it really dulls the shine I still need to discover how to work around it
I'm so happy to see that you enjoy this experiment anyway my dear thank you so much!

I know, that's why I prefer to take a picture of those pieces in sunlight, it works best for me.
No problem!

photos of artworks never seem to work for me do you have any tips my dear? I would really appreciate your expertise

Aya-Lunar In reply to fenifire [2019-01-02 19:40:24 +0000 UTC]

You have to make sure they are taken with a good quality camera, or decent at least, not with your cellphone, an Iphone or Ipad can also take good pictures sometimes, make sure it lays flat with the right lighting outside, or you tape the back to a wall or the ground, whatever you think works best, and hover before it, or over it, and make sure you have the angle right, like right on it. Afterwards you can crop it, and edit it to the best of your abilities in a free online editor :> There's many! That's how I do it. I make sure to take enough pictures, to make sure I don't have ones that are blurry and have good quality :>

fenifire In reply to Aya-Lunar [2019-01-04 13:25:20 +0000 UTC]

that's an amazing idea! I've never tried taping down the artwork to get better lighting that's genius!

maybe that is the reason why I never managed to get a decent photo you're reassuring me in trying out to make photographs of artworks once more

thank you so much for your encouragement my dear I have to try it out!

Aya-Lunar In reply to fenifire [2019-01-04 16:18:35 +0000 UTC]

Well, indeed, cause when you lay your watercolor work on a surface it's a bit rippled, cause of the painting and water, so it's best to make it as flat as possible, you can edit it afterwards too, to make sure it looks good and in the borders as well :>

Sure! Just experiment and try to think of clever solutions!

No problem :>
