Description So I was sketching and as always marveled at how much of a different putting a box around a design makes to the picture, and then I wondered if other people might benefit from this magical not-so-secret.

It might be something you already know, but if you don't have fun putting boxes round your sketches!

And it's also not a bad thing if you decide to go ahead with your floating figure! There's no right answer to art after all!

Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

One of the more original resources about, this guide comes across as a page strait out of the sketchbooks of it's topic, this is no doubt deliberate, and effective, as it lures people in by using colour, varying fonts, and highlighting that you wouldn't see in a regular text-based guide.

Unfortunately I feel the guide suffers some messiness in it's design. While I'm sure this may also be a deliberate design decision to appeal to a broad age group, it is distracting. Arrows used negate this a little, but an overall alignment of images and text would make the guide even more straightforward.

I think the reasonably-short length of the guide, easy to read font, and whimsical sketches will ensure it's wide-spread impact.

Overall: The guide is simple and direct. It addresses a problem and offers the most viable solution, in a sequential way that would be easy for any-aged artist to follow.

A very fair critique. A lot of my tutorials are just my musings thrown down for other artists to use or not use. (this one while I was sketching at 3AM).

I wrote only my 2nd-ever critique on this guide. Hope you think it's okay. My 1st one never got posted. That would technically make this my 1st.

I knew this once.  AND THEN I FORGOT!

Grantedly, I never used it, because all my stuff is references and doesn't need to look pretty, what it needs is to show all the right details.  But this doesn't change the fact that I forgot.

Thanks for posting!

I don't know how you know what crackers I'm snacking on, but yes.

And also yes.  Although in this house, we normally think of Fred instead of goldfish.  Fred is a particularly dumb cat.  There are many theories about how this cat came to be (there are arguably more pet theories than pet animals in the house), but mine is that Fred's unusually large skull is in fact a goldfish bowl, and the rest of the "body" is an advanced life support system for the goldfish.
