Description The seven surviving members of the 337th Fighter Wing return home relaxed from their most recent sortie, a mundane flight exercise as opposed to the violent battles the Wing had fought during the Dividing War of years long past.

This is a favorite image of mine, largely because I adore the Arwing design from Starfox (This image contains the so-called Elite Victory gravetic fightercraft and the EV-3 gravetic fightercraft from my nation on Nationstates .) I also am quite happy with the camera placement and lighting effects- I essentially attached the camera to one of the yellow stabilizers on the orange craft in the foreground- you'll note that apparently that ship is inverted, given that the sky is visible beneath the ship. This entire image was done with DoGA CGA System L3, including the lensflare I used for the setting sun.

Oh geez, I really do need to check my DevArt more often than I do! Sorry about the super-delayed response!

Anyway, for glowing effects like the exhaust plumes, those are just simple cylinders with their material set to emission type so they have that diffuse glow look. You can layer shapes and transparent textures with the emission material type to get more complicated effects as well- for instance the plume in the lower left corner behind the ship in the foreground, the main plume is just another cylinder, but the flame-ish looking bit is a bowl-shaped piece with a transparent flame texture pattern on it.

My best advice is to just take a couple of pieces in L3 and just goof around with the various texture and material options. You can get some surprising results just playing around with the options, and once you know it, you can apply it to more serious models later.

Oh wow, very nice camera angle capture. I like the use of the flare for the sun, an idea not many shoot for these days in DoGA.

Thanks I would have Photoshopped a lens flare in or something, but... well I don't have Photoshop ^_^ Sunset Flight is an older(ish) pic, but it is definately one of my favorites because of the composition. Once I get my Arwing Mk-IV model done, I hope to have some more fun with other flight renders, too.
