Yes he did, together with Galadriel.

Oh my. His face. Perfectly indignant! xD But then, who wouldn't be, if pictures of your wife with another guy had just been posted⦠I'll admit that I kind of ship Galadriel/Gandalf, but only in fanfiction AUs. This is indeed rather absurd.

The difference is that for AU fanfics, readers are warned and totally understand there is certain divergence from the canons in setting, storyline, pairing, etc., while Peter Jackson's movies are supposed, at least by the audience who have read the book, and there are millions of them, to remain as canonically aligned as possible; there may not be legal terms to restrict canonical divergences, but the general expectation is quite clear. And in this case, to hint about a non-canonical shipping that infringes the canonical pairing is rather risky.
Though I think this would not stand out in the movie, which has a big story to tell, and at least for Galadriel, I think her screen time will very likely be limited to minutes. I only do not understand why they are making two Gandalf&Galadriel posters out of the movie...

The characters are known and popular, and somewhat more conventionally attractive than the gross of the dwarvesβ¦ Also, as the story is pointedly lacking in women, so they might be trying to milk those couple minutes of Galadriel screen time for all they're worthβ¦Β
That being said, there might indeed just be a secret Gandalf/Galadriel shipper somewhere on PJ's team.Β
I agree with you though that it's really kind of absurd and sends a strange message to the many people who have read the book and are familiar with the actual story.Β

That's why I drew this. I don't what to be brooding over the poster all the time.
And yeah, the capture is on purpose. Celeborn is very likely the most irritated one of all, though I trust Galariel and Gandalf are no less furious about this.
Ah-ha, Celeborn is Silver-tree and he lives in the Golden Wood, can't resist some plant element for hos phone ^_^

No I absolutely don't wanna enrage any of them, ANY...
Obviously we have started somewhere, and we can just go on and on: both Bilbo and Frodo can have the lovely door of Bag End, Thorin the Arkenstone, Bard the black arrow, Aragorn, Boromir and Faramir will probably share the White Tree Banner, Cirdan a swanship, Elrond will have Celebrian.... Wait, Gimli having Galadriel on his phone? Too bad, he doesn't wanna take his phone out within the sight of Celeborn, and you know something about Elvish sight...
Yeah Feanor will absolutely have the Silmarils on his phone. Everyone probably will agree with that. In Vampiry's humour art, Feanor is having Silmarils for his tumblr avatar!

Melian can have Luthien, after the latter chose a mortal fate and was lost to her for the rest of Arda. Then it occurred to me Elrond might have a pic of Arwen to replace Celecrian headshot when he was reunited with his wife but lost his daughter forever; and that reminds me of Elros... Oh no, Elrond really has quite a list of important ones whom he will never meet again.
