Description
AaaNOTHER STUDIO SCENE!
This is something I've been wanting to do for a while now (which is the case for every render I have planned that I haven't done yet), and I actually mustered up the energy to make it happen this time. I saw an image of Vanessa from King of Fighters in her baseball outfit which ended up inspiring this render as well as becoming the image reference for this render. The lighting of the image I also attempted to follow while making sure the ab crack was very visible, while being able to control the rest of the shadows... And before I started working on the lighting, I thought it was gonna be a simple setup... Welp.... I was WRONG.
SPEAKING OF LIGHTING...
If there's anything I've learned after doing 2 studio style renders (as well as my last render), is that posing is simple, It's the lighting that takes time ! And it's not that it's hard to set up, as a matter of fact setting the position, light strength and color (if you're not going with a white colored light) is not that hard once you figure out how to make it work the way you want to, it's when you have multiple lights that makes it almost a nightmare. Finding a way to set them all up to make sure they complement each other, making sure they have contribution to the model & environment and most importantly the part that makes it a challenge is where do I want each light to be.
For instance, precisely placing the key light a certain spot in order control where the shadows are... But then I fooling around and placing it on the opposite direction only to be impressed by it also, so now I find myself thinking about which option to I decide to go with ... The worst part is that I can find myself asking that question when multiple lights are already set up !
An honorable mention for "worst part" would be when you're working on the lighting setup, you like what you see so then you call it a day and save it for tomorrow, and as soon as you get back to it the next day you don't like what you see anymore ! You try to change it up and you end up not liking that either! You try to set it back to the original, but you forgot how it was set up prior and before you know it, you've wasted hours making literally NO PROGRESS and you done goofed yourself ... *sigh* Like I said in my previous studio style render:
"THE DECISION MAKING. MY WEAKEST MOMENT "
Don't get it twisted tho, it's just that lighting is so important when it comes to these renders. Apart from a node setup on the character, I'd say lighting makes the BIGGEST difference to make a render look really really good. And I guess it's my perfectionist kicking in too when I work on the lighting. Even if I plan the lighting before working on it, I'll still end up taking hours (or even days) to decide on a lighting setup... It just is what it is and it can't be helped .
Speaking of weak moments, I spent almost an eternity with photoshop on this one as I would eventually forget what I want to achieve and how to achieve it lol. Sum1 help pls ..
FINAL THOUGHTS
Originally this was supposed to be a just one, but the ideas came in so I changed those plans. So now this is going to be a set of 3 renders with this Venus Nine outfit. And with luck I'll be able to finish these before Christmas, so fingers crossed I can get the job done . Also I would like to add that I WELCOME FEEDBACK if anyone has any. Positives, criticisms (as long as they're constructive and fair criticisms) are welcomed if anyone has any.
