Maya headed outside. It was ridiculously early but she just hadn't been able to sleep anymore. It was cold, so she stuffed her hands in her pockets to keep them warm. She didn't expect anyone to be awake yet so she figured she'd just go say hello to Lye and Lexa. Perhaps Lye would be up for an early ride; Lexa sure wouldn't like to; stubborn mare that she was. Not before breakfast at least.

Before entering the mare building, Maya looked out over the meadows. Most horses were inside, but some had stayed outside; most notoriously Reckless, who rarely went to his stall in the stallion building. Instead he had himself a walk-in cover at the edge of his meadow. Maya hoped the stallion would become manageable again; he was such a beautiful stallion but he was simply too dangerous to ride by anyone but Colinda. Colinda, however, was very much not willing to enter competitions with him; not since he'd nearly attacked another stallion at a simple halter show. And since her heavy concussion at the Wedgewood Relay endurance race, Maya wondered if she'd ever see her friend compete again. Something was up with Colinda and no-one really knew if it was just the aftermath of the concussion or something else.

Maya sighed; perhaps she was only seeing things that weren't there. She had to focus on the White December trails preparation that she'd be entering soon.

Suddenly movement caught her eye near Reckless' meadow.

'Brannon?' She thought, seeing her boyfriend at Reckless' fence gate. 'Is he out of his mind?! Its nearly freezing and he's only in a shirt!'

Quickly, Maya jogged towards her boyfriend.

"Brannon; are you nuts? Where's your coat?" Then Maya looked past him and saw Reckless' gate was open! "Why's the gate open?!"

"I don't know, love, I was about to close it when you called me nuts." He grinned at her, reaching for the gate.

"LOOK OUT!"

Maya looked up to find the shout's origin, only to have her vision impaired by Brannon standing straight in front of her.

"Hey, stop! Stop!" He started shouting, waving his arms.

Maya finally managed to look past him and was frozen in shock at the sight; only now did she hear the sound of barreling hooves on the grass as Reckless, galloping full-speed, was mere yards away from her and Brannon.

At the last moment, Brannon dove aside. Maya attempted to do the same, but the fence gate was effectively trapping her!

She heard shouts before everything went black...

Reckless again, and making trouble no less

A bit of a different style (not by much, but still). I quite like how Reckless came out. The boy and Brannon not so much... Brannon's pose was REALLY hard to pull off from this angle, but it doesn't look too bad I hope. Btw; yes I know I'm officially Dutch and the Netherlands don't have mountains, but this is art and if I want my stable to be surrounded by mountains I can do so
