Great picture! I like the careful framing that makes puts the focus on the guy. The axe the girl is holding and the dark colors in the photo make it all the more foreboding. Is she the abuser? Or is she taking revenge?

I cannot help but notice the obvious gender based double-standard being expressed in the comments on this piece.
Irrespective of whether or not the author intended it to be related to domestic violence or gender roles, that's where people have taken it.
To that end, I see quite a few comments advocating, or even encouraging, what the female subject in the piece has done. Yet in other examples of domestic violence depictions wherein the male is the aggressor the sentiment is then reversed and the aggressor admonished.
I wonder why that is? Particularly in this piece, we cannot act on the notion that the act was committed out of revenge since that'd be an ill-advised assumption given that there's nothing in the piece eluding to the victim having "brought this on himself."
A thought provoking piece, indeed. Regardless of the seemingly hypocritical perspectives it's generating from some viewers.

Eh? I've mostly seen people who like to see a display that males can (and are) be abused too. You know, raising awareness? I didn't see anyone cheering for the girl. Maybe I am mistaken in my reading comprehension.
Personally, for some reason, I feel like the piece is less about gender roles and how men "can't" be abused by women, and more about just a girlie going on a rampage. But apparently that's just me!
Dunno, the way she stands, and for some reason the skirt, makes me think she's randomly killing rather than specifically abusing someone.
