This is the first picture from my latest shooting with Martin.I wanted to create both, an autumn and a Erntedank photoseries and this picnic-like image is its result
Erntedank is the german word for "Thanksgiving", but actually it's pretty different. Thanksgiving is usually connected with eating turkey in November (I guess?).
Erntedank is much earlier (the date differs from year to year, but usually around September/October) and not connected to eating meat in general, but primarily thanking for what's been given by nature. Therefore it's celebrated with baskets full of fruits, vegetables, nuts and wheat. In my basket with little Fuchsi (the fox
) are a pumpkin, a carrot, a pea, bread, green and blue grapes and on the red blanket lay an apple, a mushroom, a glass of milk, hazelnuts, walnuts, more grapes and more bread (with butter). Martin ate nearly all of it after the shooting was finished
