As soon as it was fully developed, the Rayex Inroad trencher system was already being built and used by many construction conglomerates worldwide- With a global need for a larger vertical trenching system, this massive vehicle was wildly celebrated especially when used in combination with a fleet of IDTs. (Inflatable Dump Trucks)
Want to add a note that I know this would not be practical in real life- but was a really fun concept to play with!

巨大锯机的锯这么长,锯太重,如果锯机抬锯意外摔倒,怎么办啊?锯机有没有背上几块大金属?你画工程机的作品很好,但是试试制造工程机,开工程机意外摔倒怎么办?

That looks massive hehe. Your work is pretty good.
I'm imagining it working clockwise...shouldn't the dust and debris fly away more to the left side?

Practical or not, from the bottom of his grave Carl Barks would almost certainly approve. Fifty-eight years hence, once more the Paul Bunyan Machine roars to life!

And would he not give his approval, you still certainly have mine. Well done.

woahhhhhhhhhhhhh..... wait a second, where's the counterweight on that massive machine?

DARTpie In reply to Mythical-Legend [2018-05-09 19:43:58 +0000 UTC]

The blades and the structure along which the blades slide do not need to be very heavy in order to be strong since it only needs to be strong against forces in one plane and chipping or cutting through rock doesn't need superheavy blades, just the right kind.

In addition to probably not needing a counterweight to begin with as the engine and the caterpillar tracks most likely weight multiple times the weight of the blades and the blade track, there can be some dense substance at the end of the machine for counterweight if it's necessary.

Mythical-Legend In reply to DARTpie [2018-05-09 22:54:46 +0000 UTC]

ok, that makes sense from a technical perspective (kinda not really since the blade can crumble from its own weight and simply reinforce the blade would make it at least half the density of the base so it really won't work unless we've found unobtainium but again, cutting tool material does matter, certain steel may bend or be irreversibly damaged, diamond blades can turn into carbon if the temperature gets too high, composite blades can shatter easily and are pretty much never used in making blades; aluminum, brass, and other similar materials are too soft; for excravation it usualy high stregh steel and that blade looks pretty solid)
Aaaaand there's visual balancing... you get the point

I mean, the base portion could be extremely heavy.

There's three guys hanging off the other end to balance it out? Or maybe they're on a planet or in a universe where counterweights aren't exactly necessary (the artist said they know the design isn't practical in real life, so anyone's idea would probably be valid).
