The Japanese use to fish rivers using cormorants. They would slide a ring over the head and down the neck, this would keep the cormorant from fully swallowing the fish. After each catch the bird was pulled back to the boat and the fish removed.

Now that seems rare. Have never seen a bird with eyes like that before.Β
