Description
American Crocodile
Crocodylus acutus
Perhaps waiting for someone to fall off the river boat, this crocodile is a curious cat.
Photograph was taken near the mouth of the Belize river, in the brackish mangrove estuary just north of Belize City.
Also visible are the prop roots of red mangrove, Rhizophora mangle.  I feel all mangled up today, indeed.
Solstice blessings.

Meet me between worlds, and you will feel the salty liquid, half-fresh, deep inside and avidly consumed with passion.

where you took this picture.
It reminds me of Sundarbon in Bengal.

I took the photo in Belize, I believe Bengal also has amazing mangroves... salt water crocodiles too?
Thanks...

It is a great place.
Yes there are many salt water crocodiles and garials in the water there.
Thanks.

They are very stealth at sneak attacks & at camouflaging. Which is probably why they have survived for so long.

Indeed!  The olive-gray color of their skin blends with the murky estuarine waters until it is too late... and, yes, they appeared on earth before the dinos in the Triassic... thank you dear for the comment!

Oh wow! This crocodile looks very menacing and stealthy the way he/she hides just below the surface. I'm glad you didn't fall in.

Thank you dear Jewel
It is good that i didn't fall in... the crocs are much more active than gators during the day...
and it is as wonderful as always to receive your words... and flowers too

Look at that spiky tail! I've actually never seen one's tail spikes up like that. Interesting. I'm sure they are razor sharp too. Wow, I learned something today.

I am most appreciative of the comment, as i admire what your art and who you are.

The spikiness may be because this is a croc, as opposed to a gator which doesn't have such a spiky tail... crocs may get bigger too, and are likely more aggressive... I love to keep on learning too!

Thank you, beautiful!

Oh now I see you DID say it was a croc. I was looking fast and thought it said alligator. Really neat.

I hope you have a good holiday season!
