Description I always enjoy my time at the drawing table, but this cover felt extra-special somehow. Not sure what it is about this piece for me-- but it amped up the fun factor considerably.

Well, if you must ask SUKH WING
then I must answer:

The lines are so damn sweet, because I make my own pencils. I put ground up sweetner in the graphite.
(Two parts refined Cane Sugar, one part Nutrasweet, and one part Chocolate Eclairs)
Licked onto the page by fuzzy kittens, dusted with fluffy baby bunny tails, and kissed by butterfly wings.

caution: if you feel a cavity coming on from looking at my work, avert your eyes immediately.

The tributes were meant as a shout-out ...after the fact.

Didn't occur to me that is how it would add up for the viewer...
I love and respect their work and their memory too much to ever draw them that way.
I'm picturing the Zombies as traspassing on Holy Ground...
and the Artists are up in Heaven creating artwork too beatuiful to imagine.
Leaving Outlaw Angel to clean up the mess, and making things right again.

Yeah, good point, that one does look Nightcrawler-ish...
and even more appropriate, considering zombies are 'nightcrawlers'
full of worms and maggots and stuff. The subconscious mind IS a powerful thing.

I worked on this cover between projects-- so its hard for me to keep track of that sort of thing.

So many artists who work in other areas, are required to keep track of their hours-- while comics is based on "per piece" page rates. Although I work outside of comics a great deal, art directors indulge me by arranging quotes on entire projects (or single pieces) rather than going the standard hourly approach. I average a page a day.

I don't use blue pencil, for the longest time, I felt it got in the way of the esthetics of the finished pencils. But I am warming up to the way some pieces actually are enhanced by the hint of blue underneath. Since I go so heavy with the graphite, I do all my sketching on a seperate sheet, then transfer to a clean sheet of Bristol-- otherwise the graphite from the layouts and prelim and final would cake up so much --the end results would turn to sludge-- making it a nightmare for the inker.
