RANT ALERT.

I've already had a couple of friends expressing how anime is such a frequent (and therefore annoying) style these days. I've had more convincing me to join the other side. NO, please. Just... no. I had an excuse once that I didn't like popular things, and someone replied with, "But anime isn't popular!" Fail please?

Okay, first off, I'm not an anime hater. I've seen a couple good ones, and I have to admit I have a few manga-referencing stuff in my library. Before I ever got to my style I got a little hooked on anime. But don't call me a traitor: I don't hate anime; I hate what people do to it.

1. Some styles are just not that flexible. I haven't found one proudly plus-sized anime girl in forever, and pretty much everyone I see in one style has the same facial features for girls and boys separately. Hetalia is able to efficiently produce different races by means of outfits and skin colors and everything, but once you strip that away it's pretty much the same in essence.
2. The anatomy is crazy! As I've mentioned earlier, there is not one fat person in the entirety of anime that isn't an ugly little boy. Yes, nobody is fat in Japan, but nobody has double-D boobs and such a waist anywhere unless you get something done, and I hardly think young girls (around 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 years old?) portrayed in anime even do that. Yet, they have huge and impossible breasts.
3. Everyone here thinks they immediately become artists by tearing off horrible, huge shiny eyes and a broken line for a mouth and slap it onto either a sexy animu girl or a flat-bodied one - it's art, yes, you do good, discernible human figures, but if you don't even try to improve it for a couple of months, or worse, just keep copying figures off of magazines and expect to land a job in a manga company... well, good luck trying to rip off how-to-draw books for the rest of your life. Yes, you have to work through it, but there are still a few people out there this lazy.
4. ANIME ROX CARTOONZ SUKK! Seriously? Yes, there are some really bad ones these days, but the way anime lovers just generalize cartoons into all-kids' stuff? NO! Do you even know who Seth McFarlane is? Or Trey Parker, or Matt Stone? Or Stephen Hillenburg? Or (for Filipinos!) Gerry Alanguilan, Arnold Arre, or Elbert Or?! I hate it when people just love to diss cartoons because they're for "little kids"? [link] !!! Please! There are more people dissing cartoons than those dissing anime! Does anyone even consider comics anymore? Alex Ross and Art Spiegelman, please raise your hands! And yet anime was influenced by Disney! No respect.

I applaud Hayao Miyazaki and Osamu Tezuka and all the other anime artists who actually try and make different faces for every character.

I'm not looking to put down any aspiring comic artists... it's just that if you want to put down any cartoonists you might as well consider a little bit of respect.

So yeah, I don't like it when people call my art anime. 9_9 I like being different and I like being one of the few people in school who don't draw anime.
