Not my cup of tea, but why not... trying to apply realism to a wide known game character in a relaxed pose.
Ps cs6 + Wacom intuos 4 L.

I admitted it wasn't my cup of tea 
The reference is towards two aspects: one being the blue thing gear, the other her pose/attitude in the instant I wanted to depict her (sort of relaxed ---> figurative switched off from her usual activity).
Didn't want to upset fans of the game character, even though the fan art generally should be more accurate. But at the same time, even if I wasn't aware (because of my own laziness) of all that you mentioned, I thought (and seen other pieces depicting her without the gear at all) to try, other than realism applied to a cartoony character, also kind of a variation from the usual universe where she lives in. If that makes sense at all... indeed there are other things in the image that reinforces this, i.e. the loosened harness and as said her momentary pose/expression/attitude.
That's my personal take and sort of artistic freedom one can see all around these fan art pieces.

Indeed I tried different brushes and edges, probably not consistent all around but it wasn't my goal though.
