From the deep archives, and my first trip to the zoo with a dslr. June 8th, 2010. That's over two years ago!
Apparently he didn't catch my eye enough to be edited the first time around. Poor little guy. I think he deserves a second chance. 
He is a burrowing owl. He will burrow into your heart and lay eggs in your chest cavity. Because he loves you.

Lovely shot. I love their eyes, such an intense stare. But I really love how he's looking off in the distance at something else, gives it a different dynamic to most owl shots I've seen.

The only time I've seen an owl in the wild was in Shenandoah. A barred owl was just hangin' out. It was awesome.
