I think you mean either "Azazel" (name similarity) or "Abaddon" (the name for the demon of the bottomless pit), because Azrael is the archangel of death that guides souls to heaven. Other than that this is a truly phenomenal piece. I love the detail and the three claws on the wings.Β

Β I mean Azrael. It's not based on pre existsting mythology. Its for a book I wrote based around the notion that aliens/gods are the same thing only they don't exist in this universe and everything we believe is twisted and made to mislead us. ForΒ Example Ares, The Archangel Michael and Moloch are the same character in it. I know who Azazel, Abaddon, Belphegor, Abaxas, Amon, etc...are. I'm just doing my own take on things.

This really is brilliant! I love how much work you've gone to to create an authentic creature. It really pays off, and adds an extra layer of complexity to the piece!

That's the goal. I was really hesitant about the whole OC thing but in this case it is for an actual world I'm building on my own after years of studying the occult.

Nice detail! I have a suggestion though, less soft airbrush. it would be amazing to see you use some more textures and hard edged brushes.

I never really liked the look of hard edge brushes. Looks too...digital I guess I could say. I mean this IS digital but if I had money for actual oil pants I would love to do that so I try to go for more of a "painterly" style. Lots of digital art looks the same to me. I have been experimenting with more brush techniques and stuff though. I tend to use harder brushes for mechanical stuff. I don't do a lot of that though. I am working on more texture detail. Just comes with practice.

It is difficult to get a painted look out of digital art. Unfortunately the airbrush just screams digital, its got a very distinct look to it and its obvious when someone idea it. You can add a color variation to your strokes with the brush setting, that helps. Plus it never hurts to get a brush pack from other artists. They are fun to play with. :3

Well that's just perfect, it seems to perfectly capture the essence of a divine being which has been corrupted and fallen so far from what it once was.

That's part of it. Much of my book deals with death and rebirth. Basically there are no heroes, just creatures trying to survive. Trying to do something different told from the perspective of the gods/monsters/etc...very little human interaction. Lots of possession, consumption, death, rape, murder and treachery all for survival above all else. Hope it catches on, just gotta give it a shot. I figure the art will get the tone across. Right now I'm shopping around for publishers or maybe self publishing.
