I've always liked these colors, this wilted disgusting greenery colors, it works nicely with gloom, who, by the way, is a pretty awesome design, I always forget this line, but I REALLY like it, like a lot. I was always bummed because I got Blue version, and then I got LeafGreen so I never raised one, I finally got one in like...diamond and pearl maybe? Idk but it turns out the pokemon sucks in battle hahaha I was really bored with the all grass movepool and poor move selection. It might be great strategically, idk, but I am a power battler I just go full blast and kill with one move, and this line definitely does not have that. So they're just pretty to look at lolOh also bellossom doesn't count in this line, it's stupid, I don't like it and it doesn't fit. Oddish is a weed, then you get stinky poisonous gloom and then...bright happy bellossom?! doesn't fit.

I never paid much attention to this shiny before, but the colours are so apt! The dry, crinkled up dying plant - good work on the palette choice, Game Freak! Haha

I am kind of neutral about the Oddish line in general, though I do like their call in the Pokepark game. I can kind of see the transition for Bellossom, going from dark and ugly to bright and sunny, kind of like the Ugly duckling, but Vileplume is a good way to end the line and have Bellossom either stand alone or have a new line.
But you do now make a good point I have not considered. Grass type are weak to many other types and their moves are also low powered. My first ever grass starter was Rowlet and he has several other move types. Bug type seem to be weak too.

I do like that one anime episode where the main characters visited the plant nursery and there was a sweet romance between Bulbasaur and Gloom. It was so nice to see them interact, and boy was Gloom strong.
