Description Gibson SG.

Modelled, textured and rendered in 3Ds Max. All textures created in Photoshop.

I still have a lot to learn when it comes to 3D modelling so constructive criticism is definitely welcomed! (as long as it is not about the horrible concrete texture on the floor which I am too busy to change!)

Edit: I uploaded the image again with less DOF.

The metal parts could be shinier though.

In my humble opinion the DOF is just fine.
I love it!

If you had shinier, more reflective chrome, and the pickguard wasn't so low poly around the edges, you'd have a nearly photorealistic piece.

I wish my real SG looked that good. It's a 1964. I was told there were more than one previous owner. I've had it about 20 years.

how did you do this? im working on a similair project and for the body iv just kind of moved vertex after vertex around to match up a template but it always looks really choppy.

so how did you do it? its great by the way

Thanks. I play bass and wanted to model mine but changed my mind and went for a more well known model.

Glad you like!

what engine did you use to render it? I see a nice model here anyway, good attention to details. DOF is just a little bit extreme.

Thanks for the comments. It was rendered using mental ray, with one skylight and a HDR image for the environment. Pretty basic setup.
