Im seeing Wreck-it Ralph tomorrow, but I'm under the impression that youd probably only see sonic for 1 scene. The movie is going to reference a lot of games but it probably wont focus on any one character other than the main character. If I remember, I'll let you know...

The advertisement is just to entice people into watching the movie because it's a movie about the world of video games at an arcade. The movie makes a lot of references to other video games, but they're just things you briefly see in the background. They dont really play any part in the story.
For example, I saw sonic in a talking advertisement in the background as Ralph was walking by. Sonic was also a picture on the wall while Ralph was talking to another character and etc.
