Description

This is my childhood, and my childhood friend..

I grew up with these games, and they were my childhood, pretty much all of it. I was friendless when I was younger, having no friends until I moved to NB when I was ten. So instead, I played with the hyrulians and kokiris. I spent countless hours in the lost woods, watching Skull-Kid dance back and forth from foot to foot on his wooden stump, playing his adorable wooden flute, wishing I could join him in that dimension. Or, I'd simply stay out in the backyard beside my horse-head stick and sing Epona's song for hours. I was granted the blessing of dreams of being in the Kokiri forest, playing alongside my friends; it took away the loneliness I felt in the real world with no friends.

When I was finally old enough to understand creativity a little better, I made a character of my own to finally join Hyrule, and the Kokiri forest. Little Cryssy Maria was only six when she fell into the dimension with her kitten Niikoe, and her cat was stolen by am imp creature. She followed him into the woods, terrified for her kitten's life, and found the creature playing gently with her animal, tossing pebbles and dangling grass over the kitten's head. Regardless how nice this child seemed to be, a six year old lost in an unknown world isn't very forgiving when her cat is taken. She leaves, and bumps into Saria, who introduces her to the skeleton child. Skull-kid utters only one shy sentence to her at the time, "your cat has soft fur." And from that moment on, they're inseparable. Cryssy becomes close with everyone, especially Saria and Link, but not one holds a candle to Skull-kid. And they're never without each other.

Cryssy eventually shows promise of being a strong fighter when she and Link protect their friends from Stalfos, and they're eventually paired up on many missions in Hyrule. Her and Skull-kid are put to the ultimate test of friendship when they confront the evil of Majora's Mask. Friendship prevails..

They're merely maybe - I don't know - six, here? It's nothing more than typical child's play, rough-housing. Cryssy looks like she just fell on her butt laughing, and Skull-kid is reaching towards her, fingers outstretched. To tug her hair or tickle her, whatever you think.

I may have other obsessions, I may grow up to the point that I won't have time for video games anymore, but the love of my childhood friend will always be with me. These characters are what got me through the most difficult parts of my life, and they'll be in my hearts...forever

I don't care what anyone else says, no one in this world beats my love for this game, and this one character. I may not have much to say for my love, I've only drawn maybe...three pictures on DA? But that doesn't matter; I love this character more than my love for Kung Fu Panda, Invader Zim, Up - Pixar in general..everything combined. When I talk about this game, I never say "Cryssy", I always said "me", because it was me that was in there with them, and it always will be..

Wow, I loved those games. I liked OOT more than MM, though, mostly because I found MM a little creepy at the time. I remember spending hours in the Kokiri forest, just running around and exploring and making stories in my mind... Lots of memories in this piece, for you and for me

Someone who shares teh feeling. Zelda always felt so special to me because the characters were like..the only people that wanted me at the time. Sad, but true

MM was my absolute FAVORITE. Easy to see why - Skull kid!

Maaaan, Skull Kid scared me as a kid.
I'm proud of you for having bigger balls than me as a child.

What gave you the idea for the name Cryssy? O:

LOL!!! The re-deads scared ME to tears!

I had always loved the name Crystal, and it was the name of another persona. For a year even after creating the character, she was nameless, then I named her Cryssy ^^

The re-dead scared me too. But I liked the Gibdos. So I always got freaked out when I used fire arrows on a Gibdo. <<

I've been wondering that for a while!

But this is a lovely picture. I'm glad we get to see both the colored and sepia versions, they both look awesome!

And the description.. Oh dear god, THAT's a beautiful thing ya got thuur! I remember when I would say "It's just a game." to you, and now I feel pretty bad for doing so D: I just didn't realize that a person could have such a strong bond with a video game character, and a minor one at that (until MM, that's for sure XD)

...I'm still not crying XD

Lots of love for this one, hun!

Thanks, love!! It's the first time I've done both versions in one picture. XD

Oh hunnnny..you're forgiven. But now you understand why remarks like that hurt. To some, it's just a game, to others...it's much more (I'm glad he was a such a main one in MM; it showed the world his awesomeness!)

And lots of love for youuu!

This is the part where I pour my heart out in a gushy comment-review-thing.

...

I have no idea what to say. I just love you for making this. I'll try my best...I never thought I would say this, but I think your LoZ art is better than anything else in your gallery. The above picture makes me want to SCREAM with adoration. The sparkles, the happiness...I almost feel like crying. I can tell how much you love these characters. The details are done so perfectly, especially with the Skull-kid. And nothing says "beloved memories" like a sepia tone! But what makes this perfect, above all else, is that there is a story here that no one else is able to tell. Ahh, dammit, I wish I could make something this moving...!

*kidnaps baby Cryssy and takes her to a safe place where she can be coddled and loved forever~*

I don't even know what to say in response to all this.. I mean,.... You left me speechless. But I do agree wit hthe story thing; no one will have a story so deep about a video game.

An, you have made moving art, love

Ah that's sad and awesome!

Sorry you were such... an awkward social child when you were little. I was the same way really, and... dude... I used to play video games for hours.... and then make up stories outside of it when I went to play by myself.

I had a forest by my house I used to always get lost in and just... play... L.o.Z or Super Mario, or whatever.

Ah, Role Plays as children, it was so... awesome!

Very touching Cryssy. ^^ They look so carefree and just plain old having fun.

And you can draw the faries so well!

It's like... they're right out of the game!

Awwwwwww! That is so, so sweet.

I can totally relate to that! Not with Legend of Zelda, because I never got to be constantly around it until just recently, but I was a pretty friendless person until I moved as well. My world was filled with dragons, but I'm sure if I'd had more exposure to Ocarina of Time, then that would have been my world as well ^^.

Anyway, love the picture, love the story behind it. Have you ever considered writing a fanfic?

Someone that knows the feeling. It was so great being able to escape to that beautiful world, then my own didn't want me.

When I was ten, I wrote one, yes. Of course, I'm sixteen now, and my writing is a bit better. I have my hands ful with like five invader Zim fanfics and Wicked fics, but I may consider that
