------fullview please!-----cut paper, marker, colored pencil on 10"x11" bristol board.
A weekend project that I did for the Foot in the Door 4 exhibition at Minneapolis Institute of the Arts. I had SOO much fun with this; it was great to expand on what I learned in TOTT last semester and not have to worry about any guidlines or restrictions.
Sorta time consuming because of all the little steps and careful layering but once I started gluing pieces down and seeing somewhat of a finished product, I got more hopeful to see it done, lol!
I sound SO conceited saying this, but I'm so happy with how this came out! I'd love to do more of these soon. It's a great excuse to use up (and buy!) pretty paper!
So if anyone is in the minneapolis area and would like to see the real thing, go to the MIA anytime through febuary 8-june 13!

Yeah, after we graduated we were allowed to stay on campus over the summer, and we spent that frantically job hunting to try and stay there. But I guess it wasn't in the cards for us to make that our permanent residence. So we packed up and moved back to Orlando.
*sigh* Well, this means you're just gonna have to not go to MN and fly down to FL, LOL!! But seriously, I hope you have fun over there! Where in MN are you staying at actually? If you're in the MPLS area, there's this club called Ground Zero (or Ground Xero) that's a total harcore industrial Goth/punk club. We've been trying to make it there the entire 3 years and was never able to, but all our other friends that went said it was badass.
There's Pizza Lucé and Leaning Tower of Pizza, if you're into Japanese food there's Zen Box in downtown. VERY affordable; for the same price as a combo at BK or something you can get Tonkatsu stuffed with cheese or fresh made Yaki-soba. My god it's delicious!

And please don't feel conceited to say that you love your own artwork! The biggest critic of artwork is the artist who did it. I think it's awesome that you love your own work!

I wanted the pose to be a little more dynamic than some of the more traditional break dancing poses out there. It's kinda quirky and that positioning I think gave the figure a bit more character.

I have you to thank really for giving us the paperwork; I remembered hearing about it but it slipped my mind until you told me last week. I sat there reading the guidelines and thinking to myself "I don't feel like it...besides, there's not enough time" Then later saturday I was like "eh, what the hell. If I don't make I don't make it"
I'm real glad I changed my mind. So thanks alot for giving us that nudge to get something in! Dee Jay and I both got there before they closed the doors and now we have something we can say was in an actual artsy gallery, lol!!

Great use of mix media. the sandles get a little lost being so light, and the green eye shadow just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the piece. but great energy and pose, and your paper cut outs work wonderfully together even though the patterns are so different. Over all I really like this piece.

yeah scanners suck. take a photo mabey. or turn of scratch and dirt reduction on your scanner. that helps with my scanner anyway

This came out fantastic! I love the colors and patterns you chose, they really go along with the energetic composition and expression. It's a really cute piece, I'll try hard to get over to the MIA to see it.

I was trying real hard to coordinate like you actually piece a kimono...thing is, I'm still getting the hang of that and...well, I have alot of paper, but it was a challenge trying to find things that worked with each other. I didn't want the thing to just look mish-mashed, you know? But I'm real glad you like it, and considering you've done so much illustration wise, I'm super happy you think this looks ok!
oh don't worry about making time for the thing. It's there for almost 4 friggin' months!
