In case anyone is wondering, this takes place in a post-game DDLC, where Monika learned her lesson and isn't evil anymore.
She brought back everyone, and the others are now self aware, but they all have each other to comfort and support themselves, so they won't go crazy this time.
Nowadays, the dokis (and MC) spend their time improving their world, adding new places and improving existing ones, discovering new hobbies and stories on the internet, and finally, occasionally talk and hang out with the player when they're around.
What's happening here is that basically Monika managed to find a setting in their .chr files that allows them to turn into whatever mythical creature they desire.
Monika remembers that the player who owns the computer their game world is in likes mermaids, and.... yeah, the rest is history.
(Also, don't worry, they can change back.)
Wow, I created lore for a few pieces of artwork on the internet.
I must have a lot of time on my hands (And I also don't want these characters to be miserable, wow I'm such a nerd).
This was inspired by u/smearglexd 's "Post-game Antics Series" (Feel free to take these ideas, smearglexd!).
