I really love this shot. Acctually I love to hate it. I was in a hospital this week and felt just like that picture. Hard week. this picture captures for me alot of the things of this week. Its a great shot. It gets my favy.

I must admit, that I thought it was an airport or something before I read your comments. Knowing, however, that it is a hospital gives it a different and interesting perspective. I actually looks like a fairly regular scene, and the large bright windows make it seem rather pleasant albeit waiting still isn't fun. However, being a hospital, the news on which he is waiting probably won't be too wonderful. To me it presents an interesting dichotomy. My only suggestion would be to play with the contrast in photoshop. The whole thing seems a little flat to me. Otherwise, however, I like it. Especially the reflection of light on the waxed floor, and the volumonous space around the lone man.

I tried the contrast, but I lost details of the man, turning him into a shiloute and loosing the expression of him waiting.

i agree with the person who commented and said it was a very expressive shot. it's amazing what one can portray with a simple photograph. it came out beautifully, but that's no surprise to me anymore.
