It looks like it's a motif from an egyptian "a day in the life of..." painting, depicting common working class activities. Looks very familiar. I don't understand the description to this though. This wall and stairway was under water?

ok. It's a man-made canal or lake. I was confused about what you meant when you said "river bank" or "bank of the lake" referring to a wall.

It's a huge lake in Udaipur called pitzula.
It's full of water because of monsoons, but because there wasn't any monsoons in that area for 5 years prior to my visit, it was dry.

Truely captures the mood in Udaipur. I have gone there and it is so very dried up, yet people progress with thier lives, and make wasy without water readily available.
