The M1 turret is well suited to this, it looks legitimately futuristic. The sandstorm background adds to it as well.

ive just made a mech in 3d ( [link] ) and was toying with using a M1 style turret as the main gun but decided to make a custom smaller one, looks awesome in this scene though.

well i'm actually practicing with photoshop, i always used corel painter, but photoshop looks a bit easier and straightforward in some "management" aspects.
