Description Basically this is the first dragon I ever drew. It's about four years old which explains why it looks so ancient. But I hope you enjoy it anyway.

Love the detail in this; I would have to say the detail is really what brings this drawing together. I know it's old, but it's very good. It reminds me of some of the dragons illustrated for fantasy book covers in the 80s (no offense, I mean that in a very good way; those covers are some of the most inspiring to me, next to DnD dragons and such).

I would like to see more dragons from you. ^^

My only critique is that I think you could crop most the blank space out, to give it a better composition and keep the eyes focused on the drawing (if it had a BG though, then the extra space would help draw the viewer's eye to the subject, but without it, the excess space is a distraction.) hope that didn't sound rude at all. ;_;

Haha. Thank you very much. I don't get easily offended. I understand has their opinion and that's all that it is. The only thing that would really tick me off is if someone just said it sucks and not back it up with any reason why they think that.

I'm working on a comic but the dragons aren't as realistic. [link] (The first and second page are pretty bad but I redesigned him before page 3 so it gets better. I'm thinking about doing a series of realistic dragon pics of different species if that's what you want to see more of.

I know I can't realy do computer editing yet. And this was done like 6 years ago and I liked the effect on the picture. Makes it look like an ancient picture. I'm not really good with art terms so I didn't understand what you said. Haha. And no this wasn't rude at all. You're just givin me advice which will only make me better.

Yes please. This is a really old drawing though and I might have already improved on what you might suggest. Anyway, all critiques are welcome. I don't get enough people who tell me what to improve on anyway.

well for starters the anatomy is off a bit. i dont know if you realized but the back legs shouldnt bend in such a way.the way they bend is sorta like that of a dog or a cat. the legs bend like the way a humans does ya kno? the scales, the details, are very good, they remind me of that of a crocodile or alligator, did you use something like that for a reference? the wings are ok but need to be larger because if you think about how much weight they have to support... yeah the body structure seems to be well put together, although perhaps you could work on the lines a bitmore? make it a little more streamlined in design? my own dragons dont really tend to have that much detail (because im too lazy) but you seem to have put a good amount in. btw have you tried to draw any other dragons in any different positions??

GL1TCH-CR3AT0R In reply to elfwithvampitude [2009-07-17 00:28:41 +0000 UTC]

No actually. Mostly because I used a picture I saw in a calendar. This picture was also drawn five years ago so the lines aren't as sleak as they used to be because I drew it on paper that came from a notebook, and also the picture I used had this dragon in this exact position so that back leg is actually suppossed to look like that. It is actually very nice to hear some serious criticism from someone. I'd actually like to see some of your drawings. And this is probably one of the pictures that took me the longest to do. I'm also getting pumped to draw my next realistic drawing. This one I'm gonna make up and don't worry. I've completely fixed my anatomy problem. (For most positions )

=^.^= glad to hear im not gunna get my head bitten off... oh and i reread my comment uh... i meant the way a humans 'arms' go... sometimes when i type my mind goes so quickly that i miss words and i thank you too, seein ur picture made me want to do diffeerent positions as well, which is something i havent done in a long while. i ended up with a nice picture of an eastern styled dragon with a smidgeon of western influence...... but then i felt like colouring it and now it looks like a rainbow threw up on it , but no harm done, ill just digitally remove the colour in photoshop =^.^=

I'll have to see what it looks like when it's done. And I'm not the kind to bite someone's head off when they give me a critique that I asked for. No need to worry about offending me.

Thank you. This really is one of my first pictures and it took me literally five entire days to do it so it's nice to get some feedback for the work that I slaved so much over.

It was most likely super beginner's luck because I haven't been able to recreate it. But thanks for watching.

np ^^

Well I suppose if I was able to draw it again the original would lose it's value. But even so it ticks me off that I can't redraw it. :homicidal:

I'll try to. There's a surprising shortage of good picturees of dragons out there. If you wanted to give me a picture of a dragon you've seen I'd be more than happy to draw. I'd have to find time to get around to it though.
