The female singers are screechy and terrible, and I was really surprised when a female aria by Mozart was voted one of the top 10 most relaxing songs. I like the male singers though.

Opera is most impressive under the following circumstances:
1) When exceptionally talented, well-trained singers perform it (extremely rare)
2) When seen in person.
Both have to exist. Otherwise... Gawd, change the damn station!

Opera is art, man. It's one of those things that are either beautiful or... sad, and not the good kind of sad inspired by a plot development or beautiful voice. I mean the kind of sad that describes your loss of 2 hours and 20 bucks.
