Description Corinne Debussy had crossed the English Channel with a purpose. The French girl, originally from Cannes, had an uncle in the South of France who ran a vineyard, but recently he had been swindled out of his money by a corrupt English Wine Merchant, and had been left on the verge of bankruptcy. The police not being interested, Corinne had decided to take matters into her own hands, and travelled to England to settle a score with Clive Barton. Nobody messed with her family and got away with it!

Meanwhile Sara Philips had also taken an interest in the affairs of Clive Barton, specifically rumours of him smuggling in large amounts of wine without customs knowing. Felicity managed to bag a couple of tickets to a charity ball he was hosting at his country manor. So Sara put on her favourite purple dress which she saved for such occasions, and with Felicity arrived at the party with the intention of finding out everything they could about his potentially illegal operations.

It was perhaps inevitable that the paths of Sara and Corinne should cross at this party. It was also perhaps inevitable that both girls, shortly after this meeting, would end up getting captured by some of Clive's unsavoury staff members, keen prevent the truth of Clive Barton's operations a secret. Stashed away deep in his private wine cellar, Sara and Corinne wriggled fiercely to avert their predicament. As they both worked hard to help each other escape, they could only ponder two things. Would Felicity or indeed anyone be able to find them? And would Sara ever get a chance to wear her purple party dress without getting kidnapped at the same time?

-----

Another pic from my friend  . I fancied seeing Sara in her purple party dress again. I do have a soft spot for that outfit. I gave DamselComics free reign to pic a second damsel, and he surprised me with the choice of Corinne, who last appeared in my tale 'The Search for the Cat's Eyes Quintet.' story. I did like her outfit in that tale, so nice to her brought to life. Was a nice surprise indeed. Hope you all like it.

Credit must to go as he did the art. I just created the characters. Glad you like it though.

"I just created the characters"?  No 'just' about it my friend, they are awesome characters and always a pleasure and an honour to draw

I was kind of going for that theme yes, but you have to credit Damsel Comics for the excellent artwork

Caught snopping at a party is very nice indeed. Good work with the damsels and the environment for their peril.

Yeah it's a scenario I like too. Can't take credit for the art, only the idea and characters

I think even if Sara would go to a normal book convention, she would somehow find herself trussed. She's a kidnapping magnet by now

Nice pic of DamselsComics. Love the way he did Sara with the purple dress and Corinne in general. Now i'm interested in knowing is she would meet the rest of the snoops that appeared in Cat's Eye Quintet.

The occasional piece of kidnapping comes with the girl detective thing. It's practically in the job specification

He did a great job as usual. As for the other girls who know, but Corinne is just a trip across the channel away so it's easier for her and Sara to meet than the other three.

DamselComics really brought Corinne to life in this pic. I thought Corinne's outfit in the "Cat's Eyes Quintet" story was nice, too.

Kudos to DamselComics!

Ah, the cutthroat wine industry. So inconspicuous, yet so dark at the same time...

Golavus In reply to GhostAuthorZero [2014-12-12 08:32:59 +0000 UTC]

I dunno about inconspicuous. There's a lot of money to be made from it. Just Sara's luck to encounter two crooked ones.

I'm thinking that somewhere along the line (Maybe in Medieval Times, I don't know) Sara's mother's side of the family was cursed by a witch or something that got them this way. That's the only explanation I can think about right now.

LaPrezCheQueenvara In reply to Golavus [2014-12-11 22:53:11 +0000 UTC]

Nope, could be a good setup for a Medieval story. After all we have ancestors and my mother's side has been linked to an old Romanian royal family so you never know what your family's past may hide.

That's two wine merchants in a row Sara's faced. The whole industry must be corrupt!
