Damn... it's ME! It is me... for REAL!
You really have done a masterpiece! Even if all your other drawings were better. You don't even know how well you drew it. But i'll give you an idea.
First, the hair: i ain't blond. But i have light brown hair, and everyone says im blond because my hair, when hit with direct light, shines like if it was blond. And during summer, it gets lighter, and becomes more shiny, in a blond-goldish kinda way.
His left-hand: i do that a lot! the thing his doing with his hand, like if is touching silk or the air, even. I do the same, a LOT!
the walking: i also often walk like that. like if on a thin line, or like Capt. Jack Sparrow. (im very unconvencional!)
Now to the symbols: (lets see if i can identify them )
The black lace, tied: black, representing the evil beast he holds. Tied, representing the cohesion of one's self he needs to bind the savage beast inside him. And be the best he can be.
The walking: like "walking on a thin line" between good and evil. The line... between the very good he is, and the very evil in him. And the trouble he has trying to remain far from that line, hence, walking in a not-so-straight way.
The sword: (resembling cloud-strife's isn't it? good.. i like cloud strife, though i feel more like vincent valentine )
Being capable of turning it into two weapons, depicts my versatility. and the wise thought of a strategist, prepared to withhold several opponents.
Also, i dont know if you ever played sould-calibur, but there's a character, cervantes, who has two swords.. that can become one, hence more powerfull. He also has a resemblance to zalarus.
The feathers, and featherish ornaments: depicting icarus fall. And since he has no wings, i'd say you made it like a ressurected icarus?! Or... a fallen angel?
The gold rings with feathers: the rings, symbol of something endless, infinit, eternal.. right? And the atached feathers, depicting me being eternaly an icarus?
please help me with this one, i think im missing something here!
His shadow: An evil angel. (you can see the wings on the top). A part of him, a glimpse of the evil person inside him. His alter-ego. Depicting my past. The person I was... and someone I don't want to be ever again. But.. which still is part of me, and i fight to keep away. (and im winning! )
Another thing i noticed, the right shoulder protection: red, depicting the blood spilled?
Please add/correct what i said. I want to hear your entire version! Describe zalarus for me, as you see him.
Honey... you did an outstanding job! Even better than what i was expecting... far better! And certainly better than you knew till now
For the people who dont know me, Im an odd guy, with multiple personality when feeling down and when filled with negativism. But when I'm okay... i get.. godlike . not in a divine kind of way, but in a strength of will, and inner-strength way...
I also need to add that this drawing brings me closer to the cohesion of self i need. Away from the bad, even when walking on a thing line, closer to shattering. Im certainly gonna get a tattoo resembling this drawing!
I love you!
Keep the original safe! Im thinking on going to the us when im able to... and i wanna see it!

W00t! I'm so glad you like him — I worked very, very hard. That's funny about the left hand... I just drew it that way because I thought it looked more interesting than just.. uh.. hanging there. ^^
As to the symbols and such:
The black ribbon is indeed a reference to his dark side, and it hangs around his neck like a chain. However, it is only a ribbon, and so he is able to bear it. I wanted to give the impression that his dark side and his dark past are still a part of him, but they do not rule him.
The red feather motif on his right shoulder does represent bloodshed, or at least violence. However it also stands for his inner "god-like" strength, which keeps the shadows in check. Unlike the ribbon, which hangs down, this he wears proudly on his shoulder. It also bears some resemblance to a wing, a nod to Icarus.
The gold clasp on his belt is in the form of a winged sun, an obvious jab at poor Icarus. But it also represents the power of the sun, and it's ability to burn away the shadows. The sun is a powerful ally, if one does not challenge him.
The wooden hoop thing with feathers stuck on is actually all that is left of Icarus's original wings. Since in the myth Daedelus made wings out of a wooden framework and feathers stuck on with beeswax. However it is a wing no more. I purposefully drew him without wings, despite all the feather and sun and sky motifs, because I felt that Zalarus doesn't need his wings anymore: his battle is not in the heavens, it is right here on earth. Hence the wood and feathers no longer even resemble a wing, and they hang down, towards earth.
The colors were done with Icarus in mind as well: blues for the sky (day and night) with gold for the sun. It also goes well with his hair. ^^
The sword was designed with Uriel's sword (from the pic you sent me) in mind, although simplified a little. I wanted it to look a bit more utilitarian and less like a decoration. I came up with the idea of the two-in-one actually from Cloud's sword in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children... only his, like, splits into five or something. It's crazy.
And the shadow is of course litterally that: his shadow. The shadow that clings to him, and threatens to over power him. But it only touches at his feet, like all shadows do, and is otherwise repulsed by him. Its head is hung in despair, and it seems to be shredding at the edges. I wanted to give the impression that it might, one day, shred itself away into nothing.
Whew! Well, there's that. Like I guessed, you pretty much figured it all out on your own — I'm glad, it means I did my work well.
This piece was also a bit of a breakthrough for me, as I have never drawn anything of this level of detail before. Your request really pushed me over the edge, and I had a lot of fun.
I think I know a little how you feel: I sometimes go through mood-swings of being really grouchy and grumpy to being really hyper and cheerful, and when I'm grumpy it feels like I'm always a grumpy little bitch, and when I'm cheerful I can't imagine myself any other way. It's strange. I try to keep a cheerful countenance, but on the inside I can be a really whiny selfish over-sensitive brat. So I guess instead of having a dark, evil alter-ego, I have this big cry-baby with the mentality of a five-year-old. >.<
Perhaps not as bad, but it totally would not look cool in a graphic description.
The original is safely tucked away in a folder by my desk, it can wait.
Be sure and send me a pic if/when you get this tattooed!

Oh... I think we'll have fun...
I just must resist putting frilly pink ribbons in his hair, like I do with Sesshoumaru.
Now then... *grabs Salen and runs*
